Before anybody says anything, the production is a part of the Midsumma Gay and Lesbian Festival going on at the moment here in Melbourne. And to a big degree, the show has it's tongue firmly planted in its cheek. It is just something fun and summery happening as a part of a great festival.
And hell, it is still going to be 100 times better then "Love Never Dies"
I am excited to see it. I know, it is the height of sillyness, but if anything the show would do well in a concert format (good songs - horrible screenplay), I'd definately say it would be this.
Can't wait. I definatley have a small guilty pleasure for this show somewhere deep deep down.

I must see this.
I Love Grease 2. Saw it twice a week every week for the seven week theatre run when it was first released.

Wow. Grease 2 is so bad. But I love it!
That pic of Davey is unbelievably gay though. Who wears a leather jacket with no t-shirt?

I remember reading an article about a stage production at either Harvard or Yale years ago, and the article writer saying it was't that bad. I remember they eliminated the role of Rhonda, and made her Frenchy, as Didi Conn as no real reason in the movie, other than Sandy asking her to look after Michael.
BTW, I love Grease 2. The music is fun, (not great), but fun. And I love Michelle, and Lorna Luft. I wore out my VHS of it, and was excited when it came out on dvd.

I was thinking of a visit to Melbourne to see this but could not manage it.
I also think it could work as a musical (with lots of changes of course).
I love watching the musical numbers on dvd. The scipt is what makes this film fail more than anything.
Please let me know how it goes..

Saw it tonight. It was an extremely fun night.
I should post the review I did for midsumma on here. Maybe later.
Nicole Kapiniaris who played Paulette I think will be big. She was easily the best part of the show.

I also saw it last night and mostly enjoyed it. They did a good job of sending up the ridiculousness of the film in a way that somehow honoured it - for those of us who grew up staging Score Tonight in our bedrooms! I thought most of the cast were terrific.
It's unfortunate that the reviewer on TheatrePeople.com.au did not understand the point of the show, lamenting the lack of dialogue and the lack of clarity in the story and often saying that this was "more like a concert" ... um ... it was a concert, sweetie. And no, it should not be staged as "musical spectacular", it's a terrible movie that has a lot of sentimental value to those who have seen it but is not fit for the stage, the terrible ballads in the second half are enough evidence of that! Thankfully this production embraced its silliness and it was a lot of fun.

Yep, agree Square Pegs,
Heck in my reveiw I actually said I appricated the fact they had one character (Paulette) be a bit self-referencing/outside the show (I am blanking on the actual term at 11.20pm!) during the awful ballards (I'm definately looking at "(Love Will) Turn Back the hands of time), with great facial expressions and general WTF? looks. :)

Loved the movie as a kid! I could see this being a fun show.
I used to sing "girl for all seasons" alone in my room.
Yeah I know, super gay.
BTW: The cast looks hot!
