It seems too good to be true.

1. Don’t you need to get permission to reprint a full review? Can’t imagine that they got it so soon.

2. Don’t people check the new ads coming in before they’re printed?

Well, the producers continued being savvy as this 1976 TV commercial for the Broadway production of GREASE proclaims it “the longest running show on Broadway.” GREASE didn’t break that record until 1979 - 3 years later.

NOTE: you’ll spot in the TV commercial - Marilu Henner as Marty (she created the role in the original 1971 Kingston Mines nightclub production in Chicago), and Mimi Kennedy as Jan (fresh off the national tour).

It started it’s Off-Broadway run at the Eden Theatre in February 1972 and transferred to Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre in June 1972.
