Posted: 1/10/08 at 3:53pmThe #1 Musical of the Year...hmmm, of the year it first opened on Broadway, perhaps? No, not even.

Posted: 1/10/08 at 4:26pmI know this musical started off (in 1971) as a satire of the rock era but nowadays it's just a plain joke. Granted the original wasn't a masterpiece but it was edgy, raunchy and a lot of fun...now it's just a mindless piece of fluff and this production has officially made me dislike this musical. I just cannot listen to anything from it....ditto for the film.

what it really means is
"#1 musical of the year that began it's current life as a reality tv show".
Read between the lines people!

they look awkwardly posed and just stupidly fake... Miss J. would not approve.
and it looks like Laura borrowed the Tracy wig from Hairspray.

Posted: 1/10/08 at 4:41pmTIME Magazine never called it "The #1 Musical of The Year."
#8re: Grease NEW BILLBOARD on Times Square..
Posted: 1/10/08 at 5:45pmMaybe not, but in their 10 Best Theater Shows list of the year, it was the only musical that was mentioned... The only one they saw maybe?

The commercial for it came on, and the voice over says it's the one that you want. Is it really the one that I want? I mean, the movie was great and all, but I don't really care to see it.
I still can't believe that this made any top lists over alot that's out there like Xanadu and Spring Awakening.

Posted: 1/10/08 at 8:53pmI happened to see the commercial last night and just said what??? Grease beating out the others, especially Xanadu?

Posted: 1/10/08 at 8:58pmi saw it and i hated it.....max/laura are way to big on it. my mom saw grease first and then saw LB this past saturday matinee. grease is on the bottom of her list of broadway shows she has seen because she didnt like a chrous line so much and its number one on mine.

But just curious...is this ad located where "The Little Mermaid"'s one was and "Beauty & The Beast"'s (in the summer) where its liked attached to a big office building overlooking timesquare? Or is it where the Les Miserables revival one was..hmmm?

let the flaming begin
Is anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?
I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

And Starbucks will use the words 'large' and 'small', not pretentious crap like grande and tall.

There two ways you could interpret "flaming". Since this IS a Broadway board...
It doesn't seem quite as funny to me now. (But you know where I'm going with that, right?)

I read it one way, but yes, I get it the other way.
I get grief about my taste in shows at times.

Not living in NYC I think all the Billboards look cool! Just so happens I'm also a Grease fan, so I like it even more. I realize the show is fluff, but it is so much fun to introduce that fluff to Jr. High students! Can't wait to bring them to town this summer!
