I have eleven discs filled with Sullivan performances. I haven't looked at these in years but this thread made me pull them out and rediscover them. We desperately need another showcase like this on TV for broadway...

"The song is overwrought enough with an subtle and understated singer. Georgia Brown is too much."
She's just playing to a 1500 seat auditorium. Nobody taught her how to tone it down for tv.

The reason the Lawrence video is missing is that the clip was physically cut out of the 1951 kinescope to be reused on a Lawrence tribute show in 1955 and the Sullivan 10th anniversary show in 1958. So it does exist and has been included on one of those many Sullivan DVDs tht I hear tell circulate.
But the Lawrence tribute in 1955 and the Sullivan 10th anniversary show just have snippets, don't' they?
Where is the uncut number?
