Posted: 2/8/06 at 3:37pmDefinately Mamma Rose, Velma Kelly, or Dolly Levi. Jo March is also fantastic, and, on a slightly different note, I think Golde is a great role. While she isn't the star of the show, her personality comes across as very developed in her lines and actions. There's something about Golde that implies that every man in Anatevka would totally want her, if Tevye hadn't gotten there first. :)

I haven't seen Funny Girl or Gypsy so I can't comment on Mama Rose and Fanny Brice, but I have heard they are amazing roles.

I am just flustered how some can think Elphaba, Jo March, and Mille can compare to the great roles of Momma Rose, Mrs. Lovett, Evita, Mame, Sally Bowles, Velma Kelly (and so many more.)
There is just no comparion.
*I am talking about musicals only.*
