Just got off the phone with Gelsey's husband Misha (not Baryshnikov) and it occurred to me that I had not announced to my BWW friends that I am not staging GISELLE for Joffrey after all. I think after the shock of my resignation had time to sink in they decided to not have me stage it which is fine with me, really for the better in my opinion. But with my exit it was also decided that Gelsey would not be brought in to coach. I'm sure it's a money saving measure which I think is foolish on the Joffrey's part. Working with Gelsey would have been an invaluable experience for the dancers.
Anyhow, I just wanted to tell my BWW friends now before they make any arrangements. If they still want to see it that is fine but just know that it is not my production.
Gelsey has still not been contacted by Joffrey with the news that I have known for at least a month.
