Greta Scacchi is Paris Desiree

Just read on Playbill that Kristin Scott Thomas will play Desiree in the Paris "A Little Night Music" next February. I am VERY tempted to head across the channel for that! Especially as madame Armfeldt will be played by - Leslie Caron! And Petra will be played by a friend of mine - Francesca Jackson (Joanne in "Rent Remixed").

The rest of the cast is:

David Curry as Henrik Egerman, Rebecca Bottone as Anne Egerman, Lambert Wilson as Fredrik Egerman, Nicholas Garrett as Count Carl-Magnus Malclom, Deanne Meek as Countess Charlotte Malcolm, Celeste de Veazey as Fredrika Armfeldt, Damian Thantrey as Mr. Lindquist, Kate Valentine as Mrs. Nordstrom, James Edwards as Mr. Erlanson and Daphn© Touchais as Mrs. Segstrom.

re: Kristin Scott Thomas is Paris Desiree

Kristen obviously is trying to make a career of playing theatrical women of a certain age, following SEAGULL with this.

I'd be more excited about seeing Leslie Caron!

I'll be at the Châtelet on Friday 19/02 in the Stalls !
For those who will make it to Paris check the card they sell for a few euros, you may get a very good seat for nothing (I got a stalls ticket for 20 euros only !).
Sarah bernhardt to a fellow actress: "Have you got stage fright, dear?" "No," the young lady aswered astonished. "Don't worry, it will come along with talent!"

Nosferatu you need to be a little more specific, we live in a card heavy age.

re: Kristin Scott Thomas is Paris Desiree

If you go on to the Châtelet's website :
http://www.chatelet-theatre.com/2009-2010/
you'll see that the season passes have changed. You can buy a card according to your status (single, duet, family, young people under 28, groups). For example, I bought the youngster card and there are some performances where I can have a 20 euro ticket in the stalls (but not every night, see the calender). As for the other subscriptions, see the website for details it may be a bit different !

re: Kristin Scott Thomas is Paris Desiree

Merci beaucoup Nosferatu! Je l'essayerai aujourd'hui!

PS I'm praying the Broadway producers will kidnap Kristin Scott Thomas and whisk her off to the American show!

re: Greta Scacchi is Paris Desiree

The Theatre de Chatelet website is now saying that Desiree will played by Greta Scacchi.

I'm not familiar with her work. Is this good casting?

re: Greta Scacchi is Paris Desiree

I can't judge whether she's a good choice for Desiree - I'll let you know after I've seen the show in February! But she certainly has immense screen presence and sex appeal!

She trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School but her career has been primarily in film and TV. Her film credits include lead roles in Heat And Dust & White Mischief and a minor role in the brilliant Alan Pakula thriller Presumed Innocent. She is an Emmy Award Winner and Golden Globe Nominee. And she was apparently the original choice for the Sharon Stone role in Basic Instinct!

Tickets booked!
Hotel booked!
Eurostar booked!

Does anyone know what the French etiquette for taking photographs at curtain call is? Is it a done thing? Will I get a bollocking if I try it?

Nosferatu?

re: Greta Scacchi is Paris Desiree

I was in Paris 3 weeks ago and I could find absolutely zilch, nada, zero, sweet FA, about this production!
Loads of stuff about 'The Lion King' and 'Zorro' and many other shows but little about 'Little NIght'?

re: Greta Scacchi is Paris Desiree

It's only on for a week!

Since it's an opera production I wouldn't be surprised if it pops up in other European cities in the future: a bit like On The Town and Candide.

When u going Scripps?

I'm booked on Eurostar on morning of Sat 20, seeing the show that night and then heading back to London the following morning.

re: Greta Scacchi is Paris Desiree

The costumes and set dressings look great, but the actual set seems a little sparse.

Leslie Caron looks sensational. Greta Scaachi- yeah I'd love to see her!

re: Greta Scacchi is Paris Desiree

I am well jealous of all of you going, I take it the show is well sold out.

Bon Voyage.

re: Greta Scacchi is Paris Desiree

I'm in on Thursday Bob.

With 68 other members of The Stephen Sondheim Society!

The theatre looks wonderful: it seemed enormous on the seating plan.

re: Greta Scacchi is Paris Desiree

Are there still tickets- I must look!

Scrippsy, you're a member of SSS? I had a very scary encounter with the group once. At an after-show talk, I accidentally said I thought that Merrily would never work effectively on stage because the structure worked like Brechtian alienation on the emotions. I might just as well have taken a crap on a handwritten score of Sweeney Todd! They rounded on me like a pack of furious jackals!

Naughty me...
