re: Greta Scacchi is Paris Desiree

The SSS still has a couple of tickets for Thursday, which I'm sure they'd sell to you.

I once said at a Society event that I thought Leonard Bernstein was a better composer than Mr S, hoping for a massive over-reaction and all I got was mock-horror. I was very disappointed.

I'm going to the next meeting and I'm putting my case forward for Sir Lloyd Webber as being far superior to that slacker Sondheim!
** do you think I'll make it to the train station after?

What the hell happened to Greta Scacchi? She looks very odd in the production photos of "A Little Night Music"... Botox, anyone?
All the best performers bring to their role something more, something different than what the author put on paper. That's what makes theatre live. That's why it persists. - Stephen Sondheim

Thanks for the link, mama - it really does look as if it's absolutely stunning. Even more excited about seeing it in 2 days time now!

re: Greta Scacchi is Paris Desiree

I found it to be a very mixed bag. I've put my review on the Broadway board:

https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.php?page=2&thread=1011510&boardid=1

I was still glad I made the trip because if I hadn't, and the production had turned out to be really good I would have kicked myself.

I also thought the Eurostar was over-rated and over-priced and the Metro was worse than the Underground but Paris itself looked lovely and there was much I didn't get opportunity to do. I hope they do more musicals so that I've got an excuse to go back again soon.

I thought the production was absolutely stunning - far superior to Trevor Nunn's rather bland production. I also gather that Mr. Sondheim loved it - and went to see it 3 times!

The opening performance of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC from February 2010 will be broadcast on Radio France next Wednesday afternoon, March 24 at 3pm.

Can anyone record it?

Beg, beg!
