I'm watching it right now and it's fascinating. However, it gives the viewer an almost voyeristic sense as the documentary unfolds. I was just curious what people thought of documentary and whether they are looking forward to the musical.
It hasn't begun previews yet. It starts February 10th.
I think they're talking about the documentary.
Oops.

I saw it when it played at Film Forum a few years ago. I love when they go up to the attic to feed the raccoons!
yeah the documentary..as far as the musical was concerned, i was just wondering if people were interested.

I've seen it many times over the years and own it on DVD. It's one of my favorite documentaries and am looking forward to seeing what they do with the musical. I already have my tickets -- Ebersole and Wilson should be a hoot.
I really like Ebersole, its just hard to picture her in the role..i'll have to pick up some tickets soon..any idea how they are selling?
It scared me. It's very dark and campy all at once. Although, I don't think it's meant to be light in the least.

I don't know this show (or documentary) at all, but know the work of the composer and lyricist (Scott Frankle and Michael Korie). They worked on a workshop show I saw years ago. THEY ARE BRILLIANT. Can't wait.

It's a very fine, disturbing and oddly moving film. I'm sorry that Doug Wright is in charge of the adaptation.
I wonder what songs they'll come up with for that weird stoner kid who shows up to eat corn.
The Marble Faun (Jerry) isn't in the show--guess that washing machine didn't seal the deal after all.
oh he's not in it, thats interesting...the whole corn episode was hysterical. yeah it was dark and campy at the same time. I never knew whether it was intended to be funny or tragic...odd either way. I am curious to hear what the music will sound like. I am hopefully gonna get time to see it. I was also curious why you were lamenting the fact that Doug Wright was behind it. Whats the documentary about? hearing all this stuff about it, it must be crazy.
it is the story of A mother and daughter who are living in this dilapidated house in East Hampton. The documentary sort of unveils the many layers of their dependent , humorous and tragic relationship. Oh , they were also Jackie O's aunt and cousin, but that has little relevance. highly recommended.
The Criterion Collection DVD edition is mandatory for any cineist.
It is next in my Netflix queue. I must see it before I see the show.
yeah I just moved it up in my queue....worth watching, fascinating people.
Looking forward to it.
Great cast!
Not too worried about Doug Hughes,
It's Michael Griefs' involement that scares me.
I think you mean Doug Wright, not Doug Hughes.
The documentary is wonderful. As for the musical, I saw a workshop of it at Sundance last year. I loved it. Christine Ebersole is a force to reckon with in this.
I already have my tickets too. This is a kick-ass cast (including hottie, former Urban Cowboy, and Ithaca Alum MATT CAVENAUGH - yum!). Doug Wright is brilliant. I'm very much looking forward to this.

Michael Greif's involvement isn't good news either, but Doug Wright's is the clincher. I hope he doesn't screw it up.
why so against him? i still dont understand.
