I just got the off-Broadway recording of Grey Gardens, and there's something I was wondering. In the Broadway show, Joe gets angry about Edie's "Body Beautiful Beale" nickname. On the off-Broadway recording, he seems to be okay with it. What sets him off then, that he needs to talk to Mr. Beale?
I hope that made sense, and thanks in advance.
Joe does not know the origin of the name until Edith tells him how it came to be. Off bway, he just assumes it is a fun nickname, but the same scene as broadway takes place where Edith tells him the pool story.
You are awesome. Thanks.
