Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

While I do concede that Groff has proven himself much more of an actor than I'd previously thought... Dionysus? Really? Color me curious, for sure, but I can't see it.

Dear Jennifer Ikeda:

Please become really really famous so I can sell my old college West Side Story program from when you played Maria when you were 17.

Love,
Me

Yes, yes BACCHAE!

No, no Akalaitis!

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Groff is racking up quite an impressive track record this year.

Not really, his last two plays have sucked. And this sounds all kinds of boring, but I'll give it a shot before I judge.

The plays sucked, but most reviews PRAISED him. He is the darling right now -- and good for him.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

JoAnne Akalaitis is married to the composer for this, Philip Glass, just as Julie Taymor is partnered with the composer for Grendel, Elliot Goldenthal.

With both women directing, what a coincidence. Probably takes that amount of time together to collaborate on these new works, it's so hard.
