--"Am I the only one that hears the loud 'thunks' when you navigate onto different icons?"--
Ditto to what divarobbie2 said. The sounds are flashbulbs and those cues are intentional. I love it! Just one of the elements that makes this a fantastic show website.

I thought Patti was quoted saying there wasn't going to be a cast recording? And although I hate Patti LuPone with a passion...I will say that this website is beautifully assembled. I really love the blue colored theme and the sound effects.
I'm still trying to decide if I want to see this show...I LOVE Gypsy, but I'm just so anti-Patti it might keep me from seeing this production. But I would be VERY interested to see miss Laura Benanti...

That quote was from the City Center production. Time Life is suppose to record this production.
I don't get how anyone can hate a performer so much? What has she done to you? Did she not sign your Sweeney Todd playbill or not take a picture with you?

Posted: 3/26/08 at 12:20amIt's not personal...I'm just not a big fan of her talent.
#30re: Gypsy Full Website Launched
Posted: 3/26/08 at 12:21amThat's fine. Matter of opinion. But to say you hate her with every fiber in your body, is quite ridiculous.

I didn't say I hated her with every fiber of my body...I said that my anti-Patti-ness might keep me from seeing this production and that I had strong feelings against her with a passion. There is a difference between "passion" and "fiber of my body."
I'm sure everyone has their performers that they aren't a fan of and wonder why everyone else is...Patti LuPone is mine.
I just think she is too much.

WHAT? Do you forget what you write.
This is what YOU said.
I strongly dislike Patti LuPone with every fiber in my body. She is God awful! And I actually don't know anyone who enjoys her.

You might want to reference that in your initial statement to stay away from confusion.
So what!? I don't like a performer...many people on here have said much worse things about other performers.
Yes, I may have been too harsh with my words and I apologize for that. But I can still have an opinion. I know I'm not the only person on these boards who dislikes Patti LuPone.
And it's true...I really don't know anyone that likes her.

Posted: 3/26/08 at 12:38amIt's fine to not like a performer. But to just enter a thread and state "I hate Patti LuPone" is so immature. Of course there are others who dislike her here. But you and 'A Director' sure seem to go out of your way to show how much you hate her.

Like I said...much worse things have been said on these boards in the past. And I don't think stating an opinion is immature. Yes, I say I don't like Patti LuPone, but I do go on to say how much I enjoy Laura Benanti and how I wish good things for this production because I love Gypsy so much!
And I'm not going out of my way to show my feelings for Ms. LuPone.

Me too, defyingravity07. When I go to read the headlines on playbill.com each day, I always hope it's going to be there.

Why do Patti LuPone haters think we care to see their multiple posts? Wouldn't a single post suffice?
To say that Patti LuPone is "too much" is simply to miss the point.

Years ago I was NOT a fan of Bernadette Peters, based on her 1970-s movie and TV appearances (Anyone remember her and Dick Crenna in the TV show ALL'S FAIR?) - so I was a little worried when she was announced as one of the stars in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE. She sounded fine on the cast album but still I was not at all upset when it turned out she was on vacation the week when I first saw the show. (Joanna Glushak filled in - and was quite wonderful.) I finally saw Ms. Peters in the role a few weeks later and was completely blown away by her performance. Now I have seen her many times in shows and concert and look forward to seeing whet she does next.
What made the difference? For me it was a performer giving 110% being matched with the right material and a strong director.
My point it you have to approach each show and cast with fresh expectations.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

iawtc, Higgins.
but if by "The woman is too much," you meant "The woman is too much amazing for me to possibly handle," then I agree with that, too.

Posted: 3/26/08 at 6:22pmHello. Fi NA lly, I can see the website on my computer. It is way coool. Although I thought it was rather odd that the "HOME" button was placed at the bottom of "Rose's" dress. Hmm. From RC in Austin, Texas... where it's a sunny 79 degrees.
