Gypsy Rush - What Time?

Just wondering what time you think it'd be best to line up for Gypsy student rush tickets for tomorrow?
I found one ticket in the Front Mezz row A - would it be better [in terms of view] to buy that ticket and pay $68 or do the student rush?

Posted: 7/3/08 at 10:46pmStudent Rush. You could probably show up right before the show started and get a ticket. Get there at 10 when the box office opens to get a really good seat, in the box or side orchestra. Get there between 7 and 8 if you want to sit in the front row.

Posted: 7/3/08 at 10:49pmI think it's kinda pointless getting there before 8. But 8-8:30 would be good.

Yeah the 7am 8am people are scaring me.
I've gone half an hour before curtain and got a perfectly fine seat in the orchestra, but the front row mezz is probably the better seat.

Posted: 7/18/08 at 3:06amI've read a few topics on rush in general and have a question. What does my student Id need to say for it to be valid? A semester? A certain date? Please help. Thank you!

I would definitely say the front row front mezz is better than the front row. Yes there's the "OMG I'm SOOOOOO close!!!" factor with the front row, but the stage is VERY high. I sat thee with a friend who's closer to 5 feet and she had a hard time seeing anything that wasn't towards the front of the stage. I'm 5'6" and had a tough time seeing some of the further back stuff.
I agree with verynewyorkcurious about going later and getting perfectly fine seats ~ I would ask if they have anything on the even side as the odd side is next to the street and the doors are NOT soundproof.
But the mezz, especially the front mezz, is sheer perfection for this show.

It's student rush.
You don't have to get there insanely early. The box seats and side orch seats are fine.

Someone I know went this past Sat. night a few minutes before curtain and got second row center for student rush price.
I think I may try that soon myself. I love front row, but even I have a hard time with this stage.

^Wow, I may have to try that too, lol.
It seems like you're pretty much guaranteed a seat with a Student ID, whether it be in a box, orch, front row, wherever. Unless you REALLY really want front row, you don't have to get there that early.

Posted: 7/18/08 at 4:12pmRight. My one piece of advice would be to TRY and get house right (even numbers) if possible. House left, the sides are right next to the doors and you can hear everything going on on the street.

Posted: 7/19/08 at 12:30pmDid student rush this morning, must have been 30 people in front of me. I arrived right at 10AM and was last in line. Managed to get the last front row seat for the matinee performance. They didnt even check my ID, FYI.

Posted: 8/4/08 at 2:12amSo, to bump this up, I just want to get a feel for things. If I wanted to student rush this Saturday's matinee, what would be a good time to be in line? I don't really care so much where I sit, as long as I, you know, can see the show.

Posted: 8/4/08 at 3:45amOk, silly question, can you select different seats from the ones they offer you when you get to the window... Say The Box office person offers you a box, can you request some thing else (like front row, etc...)

Posted: 8/5/08 at 6:16pmI think that depends on the person selling you the tickets at the box office. I've heard that some people were able to request specific seats, but when I went a couple weeks ago, we asked if we could request specific seats and the box office guy said that we get whatever the computer gives us. I got there about an hour and 45 min. before the box office opened, I was the 12th person in line and got left orchestra front row. The people who were 2 places back got the box seats.

Posted: 8/5/08 at 11:53pmI did it two Saturday nights ago and got there at 630pm AFTER losing In the Heights lottery and STILL got 2nd row towards the side rush seats (but not the farthest to the side ticket). And I had done front row centre before and thought that the 2nd row side was better because I could actually see over the stage.

Bumping this thread because it is a little old.
I'm going this Saturday and want to make sure I get a decent ticket (orch or mezz). How early should I arrive? Also, someone mentioned that they don't check IDs. Have other people found that to be generally true? Mine doesn't have a grad date even though it's still valid.

I went this past Saturday and got a ticket for the matinee around noon. Orchestra Row E, slightly to the side.
I actually prefer going around that time to AVOID getting the front row. I've had it once, but the stage is just a little too high for comfort. Sitting further back gives a better overall view.
