that's...hysterical. truly hysterical.

I think I had the same reaction when the box office dudes told the people in front of us last week...

Here's the deal. If you go see "Gypsy" and God forbid Patti is out, you'll be immensely disappointed. "August" is great no matter what cast you see. The question you have to ask yourself is, "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do you.....?

I'd go see "August". re: Gypsy vs. August: Osage County

Both are amazing pieces of Broadway theatre.

The performances in GYPSY are... well... Tony Award winning and not to be missed.

A:OC is spectacular. There aren't enough words.

It's really up to you: are you in the mood to see arguably the best musical on Broadway at the moment or the best play? re: Gypsy vs. August: Osage County

About the Gypsy student rush--I got a box seat when I did student rush.

If you get a box seat, RUN LIKE THE WIND! Those seats are HORRIBLE! Thank God I got to move down to the orchestra (6th row) for the second act. You miss a good amount of the show from the boxes. Well, you have to do a LOT of leaning.

Actually, for Gypsy I always ask for the front right box when I'm bringing someone who's never seen the show before, rather than front row. You miss virtually nothing from the first three seats in the box. Left box is more problematic because you can't see everything that happens in the dressing room, but nothing really happens on the extreme right of the stage.

I was in the fourth row... and then scooted back to the 5th chair. I still had a LOT of leaning to do.

Thank you all so much for the advice and tips! It is very much appreciated.

Out of curiousity - how often does Ms. LuPone call out?

And if I got to the box office, say around noon, what kind of seats do you think I would get? I assume the front row seats would be long gone by then, right?

Oh and regarding A:OC: Where exactly in the mezzanine are the A:OC seats for rush? Sorry to be annoying.

Thanks again you guys are very helpful!

I don't have any information about seat locations, but if your name is Jonna (pronounced: John-uh), there is a character in August: Osage County with the same name. Small bits of joy and weirdness to hear your own, really uncommon name in any production, much less a great one (at least it was for me).

Good luck with the decision!

Patti has only missed one show, and I believe she had the flu that Sunday. She doesn't "call out".

unless she's dying (or it's announced in advance), Patti won't miss any more performances of Gypsy.

When I first read the subject, i thought it was a "who would win in a fight, Rose or Violet." haha. Who does everyone think would win?

I have another question about rush seats for August. they sell seats in the rear mezz, correct? do they have the same policy as Gypsy (and other shows) where they sell other available seats after the rush seats are sold out, or no?

They have 10 seats set aside for rush at "August." And once they're gone, no more rush.

It's a very sad occasion when I try to rush it and the seats are gone.
