After an amazing run, we are closing tonight in Portland, Oregon. We've gotten a lot of love and support from you guys on broadwayworld.

Jim

I also had the pleasure of seeing this tour and thought it was every bit as wonderful as the original one on Broadway. (I only saw the original cast so I can't speak for an others.) Bravo to each of you!

I saw the show on thursday and it was quite good, you could tell everyone was having a good time, at times, maybe a little too good of a time.
Congrats on a successful run and best of luck to all the cast members in the future!!

Loved it in Ft. Worth.

You all did a terrific job!
I saw the show twice when it came to Chicago!! and that's at $80 a ticket and $28 of parking each time!! But it was totally worth it! You guys rocked, best of luck in all you do :)

Congrats to Jim and the cast on a great run.
Out of all the shows I've seen, I've seen this one the most - 4 times in Boston! Maybe I'll go see it down in New York one day this summer. Great show, great fun.
Just to clarify.....yes, there is a Non-Equity tour that will soon follow. They are being produced by NETWorks. They are starting in Atlantic City with the 90 minute "Vegas" version and supposedly continuing with the full length version of the show.
Well, I actually know a little more than that but that's all I feel that I should say.
Thank you again to broadwayworld and it's members for your support for the past 3 years.
Jimmy V
Congratulations Jim on such a successful run. Would you care to share what the final performance was like as it seems no one from the board was there?
'acrocksyo' was tehre - hopefully he will post a review.
I was at last night's last Equity show of Hairspray and I am proud to give you a review of one of the best of the many performances I have had the pleasure of attending across the country. I am sad to see this talented cast part ways, as I see them as a family of dynamic spirit that exudes on stage.
The ever vivacious Jimmy V. led the musicians and cast to a full house. You could literally feel his enthusiasm (as well as see it from almost any seat). (Portland is also to be commended on being a perfect audience -- they got every joke and gave the cast the feedback they also deserved!!)
The cast -- not surprisingly, Keala Settle was truly her at her best last night. She danced and sang and let everyone feel her Tracy. She was as loveable as could be.
Jim J. Bullock...as Wilbur, ever the hysterical wise guy did his usual cracking up during "Timeless To Me" and the combination with he and JP Dougherty as Edna had the audience roaring!!!
One of the much touching highlights of the show was Charlotte Cossley's "I Know Where I've Been". Whether it was that she was teary eyed throughout it, or that many of us just plain old understood the words of the song, I doubt there were many dry eyes in the audience. I know that I sat clenching Keala's mom's hand as we both wiped away tears. What an incredible performance!
Alan Mingo as Seawood never ceases to amaze me, and once again that was the case. He, and Melissa Larsen as Penny were truly terrific! Likewise, Tara Macri as Amber and Susan Henley as Velma are equally convincing. Jane Blass is so incredible in all of her character roles that it took me a few shows to realize that she was all three people!
The evening's performance concluded with all the standbys, swings and crew brought on stage for bows and a special speech made by Keala. It was a beautiful articulation to acknowledge the work that this beautiful group of people did together.
Although I have not personally included all of the principals or ensemble members in this review, I must tell you, they are all gifted and talented people and amazing human beings.

That's good to hear that they are touring with the full version and not the 90-min "Vegas" version, I was worried since I haven't seen it yet! (It's coming near me in Feb.)

Congratulations on a great run. This show was so much fun. Keala Settle deserves great things in her future, as does the entire company.
Thank you all for a most enjoyable experience!

I saw the production in Richmond VA and loved it. Except that the conductor was so cute, it was very distracting.

cant wait to see you jimmy!!!
Hey Dottie, the last show was very good and pretty focused considering everything. There weren't as many tears as I expected. The only producers that came were Margo Lion and Edam Epstein. Our General Manager Laura Green made it to the closing night party. The party was nice. We received "letters" from most of the creative team. However, none were in attendance for our party or closing show. Considering the scope and success of this tour, the closing was surprisingly understated. Some in the company took it personally. I choose to be grateful for the gig. Now it's onto the next..........
