HAIR, circus people instead of hippies, bush instead of lb johnson...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raUWQ9j4Y9c&feature=related

Just found this on youtube (sorry if this has been posted before). It's a foreign production of the show and it seems MOST intriguing!!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

crushgroove, JoeKv was joking, obviously.

That seemed incredible!!!! Thanks for posting.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

That actually gave me chills!! Very cool concept.

"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"

"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu

I find it very interesting. i'm not sure on how I feel on the circus aspect, however i loved the moment with berger at the end. The whole thing is undoubtedly beautiful. And i loved the directors take on "let the sun shine in" vs. "let the sunshine in" meaning a plea of defeat vs. a joyous outburst.

Also, not to seem stupid, but the blue haired person with the wings- was that a man or a woman? i couldn't tell...

I think the fairy wings person was Woof. Makes sense, lol.
You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor

"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

That was a really intresting video. I do like the concept however it was a little shocking at first. And yes i too believed that to be woof.

"the action was set not in the traditional hippie commune, but in a circus. The tribe travels through many different cities, pulling the play from its traditional New York location. The time is the present, so Claude goes to the Middle East, and the tribe protests the 2nd President Bush instead of LBJ, while Woof harbors a crush on Justin Timberlake instead of Mick Jagger.

Despite these changes, changes in staging and NOT in story, I find the production very faithful to the spirit of the original HAIR, and I enjoyed it quite a lot."

Interesting concept yes but not one US soldier in the Middle East right now was drafted so how do they make the whole show, which is essentially centered on the draft, work? Just curious...
