Was at this afternoon's performance. Nice curtain speech by Hugh Panaro, who brought Hal Prince on stage for some additional comments. Show looks great, and the improved sound system is a knockout.

I've seen this on tour but I've wanted to see this on Broadway for the longest time.

At the curtain call this afternoon it crossed my mind that there were probably some cast members up there who weren't even BORN when the show opened!

Oh dear, that comment about the new sound system has me worried, It's one of the things I am most looking forward to hearing when I see it soon.

Happy 23rd and I truly hope it will atleast reach 30.

While the stagecraft is dazzling and the production values are outstanding, what is it about this show that makes people come back? I've seen it twice. I thought it looked and played great, but I didn't connect to any characters, I found the music trite and banal and the story contrived. Do people actually just sit slack-jawed looking at the damned thing and not care about the content? I guess so.

I would love to meet Hal Prince---just because I admire him.

ravnquest1--How discouraging about the sound system. Is there no one with authority who can hear what you hear? It's ridiculous to spend a lot of money to make something good worse!

I know Hal Prince slightly. He's a true gent, and very nice and encouraging to young people interested in the theatre. Glad to you hear you met him, Cape Twirl of Doom.

Well considering that the CD is in the top selling albums of all times SOMEONE likes the music:
1. Michael Jackson, Thriller (100+)
2. AC/DC, Back in Black (45+)
3. Meat Loaf, Bat out of Hell (43+)
4. Eagles, Their Greatest Hits (42+)
5. Dirty Dancing Soundtrack (42+)
6. The Bodyguard Soundtrack (42+)
7. The Phantom of the Opera (40+)
8. Backstreet Boys, Millennium (40+)
9. Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (40+)
10. Fleetwood Mac, Rumours (40+)
11. Pink Floyd, The Dark Side of the Moon (40+)

One may not personally like it but good god it's a damn fine piece of theater to some part the hundreds of millions of people that have seen it. I for one didn't like it till about 4 years ago and now I love listening to it. Here is to a wonderful 50 year run...

Thanks jv92! He gave a lovely speech to the cast & crew and was full of praise for yesterday's performances. It was a thrill to meet such a theatre legend while standing on the stage of the Majestic.
