for anyone else who is as obsessed with the show as I am....
on that unmentionable site that rocks so much there is a great video of in the heights at the easter bonnet competition. They did this fabulous parody on Fiddler and it is AMAZING. SO, check that out...also, Lin Manuel himself has an account on the unmentionable website and put up a ton of little videos of rapping about the show that are just incredible...and I hate rap. He's just so amazing.

1) mandy is the weakest part of the show. recast ASAP.
2) I hope it doesn't go to the Music box--it is cursed.
3) I wish it the best of luck, it is new and orginal. Good or bad, at least it is trying something different....NOT a jukebox, NOT a movie, NOT an 80's sitcom turned musical...a new show!
halleuja!
is the Barrymore too big? Because if I had to think of a currently running show that will close soon but hasnt announced yet...
THe other space that comes to mind is Circle in the Square- i know that the 25 Annual hasnt been selling out lately, and I think that space is conducive to pretty much anything if they work it right...
I heard the producers walked by the Hilton the other day, obviously vultures circling...
OK, now that THAT hornets nest has been stirred up...
This is an example of a show that can succeed with intelligent marketing. I have said it before, Wicked's marketing team is the key to their success. In the Heights needs to target all of the ex-Brooklynites and Bronx expatriates living out on Long Island who remember what a 'neighborhood' is, along with every temple and ethnic-based youth organization in the area. The first rule of marketing is to know your target audience, and this show has already shown they know what their is. Step Two is to utilize it effectively. It might have a prayer.
But not at the Richard Rogers.
Circle in the Square wouldn't work for in In the Heights at all. It needs a theater that has much more height; their set was pretty massive. They also need the space to fit that ensemble of dancers.
Shame Tarzan isn't closing. I can't imagine this show lasting. It's pretty cool though, and the creators have a nice story.
i know its horrible for people to wish it ill without seeing it, but i do agree with some that fear that its suicide to transfer to a bigger house. whats wrong w/off broadway? look at the altar boyz!
Karen Olivo was amazing
So was Robin De Jesus
my thoughts exactly (though i think rent may have a bit more time, not sure)
"The producers of "RENT" told the road company they've got two more years left with the Broadway production, so I wouldn't expect the Nederlander to open anytime soon."
i dont mean to get this thread off topic or anything, but source??
Also I think ITH could do really well, it definitely had some flaws but if they clean it up it could be amazing.
"Well if the show is transferring to Broadway, then the set and everything will change. Like with SA and Grey Gardens, everything will get a "facelift" and things will look better and more expensive and be designed to fit the space their in. They're trying to sway a $100+ audience, so they have to up it."
they don't have a reason to change the set though, it was absolutely perfect the way it was. Definitely something I noticed right off the bat. The only thing is if they get a larger stage they could spread things out a bit more. but really with the set, they didn't miss a single detail.
more importantly, how do i see this show more while it is still off-broadway!?! I know they have it at TKTS, but is there a way to get cheaper tickets at the box office? I saw it tonight (amazing!) and it looked like most of side orchastra was empty. if you buy a seat in rear mezz for the cheaper price will they let you move down to an orchastra seat that is open? I want to see it again but i'm a poor college student. haha. any ideas?

The show has student tickets. They are in the first row which is really close to the stage so it kinda hurts your neck, but there only about $25. I think that they sell them 2 hours before the show but I don't really remember.
im excited about this coming to Broadway- the songs on the myspace page for the show are awesome
i might try and see this off-broadway if i get the chance in july, like, before it goes to broadway
yeah
:)

Lin-Manuel Miranda was out for both shows yesterday (Sat.), which might have kept some seats empty. I know we decided to go another time so we could see him.

Shuan Taylor-Corbett was on yesterday (I knew in advanced and went specifically for Shaun). I had never seen the show before so I have no sort of comparison whatsoever, but I loved Shaun. I've been a fan of his ever since I saw him in Altar Boyz and he blew me away yesterday. He was really fantastic.
lin's going to be out for a while, i heard he just wants to sit back and watch the show for a bit. I haven't seen shaun yet but hear he's great.
