HELLO, DOLLY! at the Tonys

Any chance of an 11th hour compromise? A Tony night surprise? I know the answer but still hoping for a Broadway miracle. The biggest show of the season and... Penny In My Pocket??! I just don't understand how the powers that be can let that happen.

Here's hoping.

HELLO, DOLLY! at the Tonys

The Tony Awards are opening with a close-up of Bette as Dolly and beginning "Before the Parade Passes By" with the cast in full costume marching into Radio City Music Hall (ala "Circle of Life" from THE LION KING) with cast members of the nominated shows joining Bette and the HELLO, DOLLY! cast on stage.

HELLO, DOLLY! at the Tonys

"That would have been a great opening but not happening with those unimaginative producers and Rudin in control.

It's a shame because that's how the show should open ...With Spacey singing....

Hello Tony....Well Hello Tony...it's so nice to have you back where you belong....

Then opening with a close-up of Bette singing Your looking swell Kevin...finishing up and beginning "Before the Parade Passes By" with the cast in full costume marching into Radio City Music Hall!

Now that's an opening!

That sounds great. They could also have Bette open descending that giant Radio City lobby staircase and entering the theater from the back. So many imaginative things they could have done.

Dame, Another great idea...why do we all think of these exciting and cute ideas yet we always get some sort of cheesy opening that most of the time does not work.

Lol, that's exactly what I was thinking of. Maybe it looked good on paper?
