Ghostlight2, what does " Average capacity, even heavily papered, was less than 25%. " mean?
(Because the attendance was apparently about 60% about the average ticket price so low, does this mean that there was a lot of freebies?)

Sorry, you caught me before my edit. I made a typo. The theater was full to around 60% of its capacity. You are correct in thinking that the average ticket price was so low because there were so many freebies (aka "heavily papered"). That's almost unbelievable that the average ticket price was $25. I don't know that I've ever seen that before.
Sorry for the confusion regarding my typo.

Ghostlight is the only poster whose opinion on this show I remotely agree. I found the writing to be awful--full of cliches and very contrived. I actually thought the acting was horrendous and laughable by all especially Turner who was hilariously melodramatic.
THANK YOU!!! I thought I was crazy. I found the whole thing laughable from start to finish.

What was also laughable was the audience reaction to all of the cliches. There were literal gasps when Turner said--"and when I ran out of vodka, I would drink rubbing alcohol. and when I ran out of rubbing alcohol I would drink vanilla extract in the aisle of the super market" (or whatever the stupid line was). The audience reacted that way throughout the entire show. It was a bit mystifying that one (or many) could be so shocked at all the contrivances. I would post more examples but they would verge on spoilers.

They've had Miss Turner out there doing interviews in an attempt to raise awareness of the show. I'm afraid it's probably too little, too late. I loved that she hijacked the last 30 seconds of the interview to express her opinions on the Republicans threatening to shut down the government over Planned Parenthood.
Has anyone seen HIGH recently? Any changes?

Great interview. It *almost* makes me want to see the show...

Listen, if you're a big fan, you should. She's not at her best in this not very good play, but it's Turner being her broadest of broads, in an intimate house. They play is not without its moments, and it's Jonigkeit's debut. Poor Kunken is a non-entity in this role, but it's not for lack of trying.
And I'm pretty sure you can get cheap tickets - but I would do it soon. Very soon.
It makes me absolutely ILL that they take time out of the interview to talk to Kathleen about Evan's nude scene. It's so sad they are using all these provocative smoke and mirrors to get people into the theatre.
What self respecting play has ever advertised its MALE FRONTAL NUDITY, put age restrictions on the show had actors discussing it and basically leading with that.
What a joke.
Anyone can get into NAKED BOYS SINGING.

I know. It's so Forty Deuce - and it's FULL MALE FRONTAL NUDITY on their website, btw. As in: "Step right in, we've got FULL FRONTAL MALE NUDITY!!!
The nudity was a real misstep to begin with. The way they're touting it is a travesty.

I admire Turner's work, but I wouldn't call myself a "big fan". And I am going to be in the city this weekend with one show spot designated for a play. I also have Born Yesterday, Jerusalem, By the Way, Meet Vera Stark and Bengal Tiger on the list. I will consider seeing High probably only if the others don't work out as far as rush or lotto go. I was really only saying that the interview piqued my interest in the play, but not enough to advance it much more on my list.
