you work at HMV??? you should stay late one night and separate all the cast recordings from the soundtracks and make a sperate section for Broadway musicals...
Hair doesn't actually have much of a plot. There is a group of friends ("The Tribe") who have dropped out of school and are running around New York getting naked, having sex with each other, burning their draft cards, and doing drugs. There is a small plot thread about Claude, who has been drafted, and the conflicts he faces as he prepares to leave for Vietnam.
I'm musical directing the show in the fall. Should be fun.

shneb, you're right. That's Norm Lewis.
The show actually had more of a plot Off Broadway. But basically in a nutshell, the story centers around a group of hippies in the East Village. Claude loves Shelia. Shelia loves Berger (Claude's Best friend). Jeannie loves Claude. And Woof loves Claude/Berger/Shelia depending on the day. Claude gets a draft notice, struggles with whether he should actually respond, goes to war and gets killed.

The ending of the "Hair" movie (Treat Williams, Beverly D'Angelo) was a bit different wasn't it?
The film of HAIR was a pretty different animal altogether, but I think they managed to take what little plot there was on Broadway and create a convincing story for film.
glad you bought it..the money goes for a good cause.
the show..tasteless, boring and the 70's version of rent
I don't find HAIR tasteless nor do I find it boring by any means. Also, RENT has very little in common with HAIR and if anything I would reword it and say that RENT is the 90's version of HAIR.

Some times tasteless makes for the best musicals!
