A few more questions, my friend is now considering rush over lotto. Are rush seats whatever is available? How early should we get there for that? (website says box office opens at 10) Would it be worth it over lotto? Sorry, I've just never done any of this before!

I wouldn't do student rush. I would try the lottery and if you lose, they offer the partial view orchestra seats for $37 to anyone who lost the lottery. You'll be told to get on the end of the lottery winner line to go into the box office and buy your tickets.
I chose student rush over lotto loser - they are both partial view orchestra seats, so it really doesn't matter.

What's the crowd like on a Tuesday night for the lotto? Gonna try it tomorrow.

Would going on a Saturday be a ridiculous crapshoot if we tried for lotto? Also, are lottery loser seats sold separately per person or can you buy seats together (if you come with friends)?

I don't think Saturday lotto is a ridiculous crapshoot. I've gone twice on a Saturday night and won once, if that says anything. I'm awful at estimating the number of people in a crowd though.
And we were able to get 3 lotto loser seats together in the center mezz last Saturday. The show really isn't selling well so if you go with friends they'll probably have no problem seating you together.

Thanks mee.who! I'm toying between either a Wednesday or a Saturday matinee. I feel like Saturday would be slightly more busy.

I tried lotto for last Saturday night (my friend and I lost) and then today (we won). Saturday I would say there were close to 100 people there. One person clearly knew the lady running the lotto and cheated by writing her name in Sharpie (the person running it did not really shake up the bucket, and picked the girl she knew third).
Today there were a lot fewer people, and a good number of us won, but there were definitely a bunch who didn't.
They were giving out 21 tickets Saturday night, and 25 tonight. I don't know why that was. But the show was fabulous and lotto is definitely worth a shot, especially on weekdays!

I've seen someone write their name in sharpie too, that person CLEARLY knows the girl running the lottery and the girl running the lottery CLEARLY picked the girl intentionally. so unfair. she also picked all the girls friends too - which was obvious because there weren't that many people there and everyone who won were all friends with eachother! my friend who entered with me looked at me and rolled her eyes then said "well that wasn't rigged, at all" with the most sarcastic voice ever. i hate when people rig lotteries. it's so unfair and ridiculous.

Its definitely ridiculous, especially since those people have seen the show countless times, while my friend had never seen it before tonight and I had only seen it once, with the original revival cast. You would think that such diehard fans would want to give others a chance to see something that they love so much, but clearly thats not the case.
I actually brought a Sharpie today in case it was the same woman running it, to try to beat her at her own game. But it was a guy running it, and he was very nice and fair!
Question for those who have seen the show recently: is there still the problem of people interrupting The Flesh Failures/Let the Sun Shine In by leaving their seats, running down from the mezz, etc to make sure that they can get on stage after the curtain call?
I saw the revival a few times and don't remember that ever being an issue, but it seems that's *all* I've heard about from people who saw the first performances of the 'Summer of Love,' wondering if it's still an issue.

The powers that be are aware of the lotto problem. I just hope they don't solve it by taking lotto away for those of us who did nothing wrong. Yet ANOTHER case of a bunch of immature, selfish teenagers ruining something generous on the part of the production with their antics. Hope these kids grow up, fast.

The first time I did the lottery it was the girl (which is when we lost due to sharpie girl & company), the second time I did it the guy was running it and I agree, he ran it extremely fair and did not purposefully pick people. I hope they do not take away the lottery either, but I think the problem is the specific person running it (the girl, not the guy), not the fans themselves.

These same exact fans were the cause of the AI lotto being rigged, and of the original revival production lotto being rigged. I personally don't know if it's the same girl "helping" them at all these different places, but it's as much their fault for accepting the tickets and bragging about being given them as it is the stupid lotto girl's fault for risking her job for some selfish kids. Either way, I hope SOMEONE can get to the bottom of this.
I understand, I really do, when shows will put aside 1 or 2 lotto tickets for the cast or friends of the cast, every once in awhile, but for a group of obnoxious fans, over and over again? No thanks.

In response to Myglass989: My friend and I had something similar happen to us when we tried the Hair lottery a couple weeks ago. The lotto girl had her two brothers' girlfriends there and they magically won the lottery (front row center). Something similar also happened the last week of American Idiot during the lottery when the same girl picked names and, low and behold, someone she knew won. We chose to write a letter to Broadway heads about this issue and they were supposedly investigating her questionable behavior already. You might consider doing the same, at the very least to help other people who may lose due to her serious nepotism! Just wanted to share this with you.
I'll be at lotto two or three times this weekend so if I notice any suspicious behavior I will say something. That said though, I've played lotto a few times so far and haven't had any issues.

Anakela: To answer your question, nothing of that sort happened when I saw the show on the 23rd (Saturday matinee). I, too, heard about people running up to the front during "Flesh Failures" and I was nervous about that ruining my first experience, but it didn't happen. I'm not sure how it's been on other days/nights though.
Myglass989: Thanks for the info! I hope we're lucky on a Wednesday!! (Luck's never on my side)
Thanks! I was hoping it was something that would just naturally die down, but when people were still talking about it happening at shows they attended two weeks after first preview I was starting to wonder if it ever would/did.
