Hairspray She's Back!!!!

Sept 8 Diana Degarmo rejoins the cast of Hairspray as Penny after completing the national tour of Brooklyn The Musical. She starred as Brooklyn with Melba Moore, Cleavant Derricks, Julie Reiber, Lee Morgan. The cast was given rave reviews saving an otherwise weak book. She brought the house down with "Once upon a Time" and again with Cleavant Derricks in a duet for the "Street Singer". What an awesome set of pipes!!!!

I'm going to be in New York on Sunday and I'm gonna try and catch her as Penny alongside Haylie as Amber.

I'm very exicted.

I'm glad to hear that. I mean, I knew she was fanastic from American Idol, but hearing all the postive things about her as Penny is very good. I know Haylie has been getting pretty good to fair reviews from people, so that's good. It will nice to see these two on the stage together.

I'm new here, sorry if I should post this elsewhere. I saw Diana in the touring Brooklyn show in Dallas, TX last month. I had no idea what to expect (actually bought the tix before I knew it was her) - I have to say, she was OUTSTANDING! Hit some incredible notes, and her personality was just infectious. It was a real joy to watch her!

It’s going to be great to see Diana as Penny once again. I’ll be at Broadway on Broadway on Sunday and I’ll defiantly be going to the Neil Simon Theater to get tickets.

Sandy, I also saw Brooklyn in Dallas and you are absolutely correct, Diana is amazing. I wish they would let her sing “Once Upon A Time” on Sunday.
