Billboard.com has a picture of the original movie soundtrack in the #4 position, but I'm sure it's just a mistake.

Yeah, I don't know if it's a mistake...I hope it is..because when I cliked on it...it shows the "Original" soundtrack and you can listen to samples of the music and see the tracks and everything...it would be different if it was the wrong picture, but that is like the whole album...I really do hope that the new one is the one at # 4 and not the original..either way it is a great thing!

That's very strange, Dr. I still think it's a mistake on Billboard's part but it makes you wonder how many people may be accidentally ordering the wrong soundtrack off of Amazon, etc? LOL It's probably happened to at least a few people.

Their charts are always a tad bit generous- but I could see it coming in at #3 this week.

It IS exciting that the HAIRSPRAY movie soundtrack is selling so well, but also sad that in one week it has sold more copies that the OBCR has sold in 5 years of release!
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
