So what's it look like on TKTS for Hairspray about now? I guess it would be better asked after Tuesday, eh? We'd love to come up to the city to see Hairspray one last time but don't really want to pay full price if we don't have to. I'd also hate to come up and then not be able to go at all should there be no two-fers available.
Also, any word on a possible dvd of the last performance?

Posted: 11/9/08 at 6:37pmBecause New Line/WB know how much I want it to be. Duh?

Posted: 11/9/08 at 6:40pmI wouldn't hold my breath for an official DVD of the final performance. There's no reason to tape it. We have the excellent movie musical, isn't that good enough?

Posted: 11/9/08 at 6:46pmI love the movie, but they're two completely different juggernauts.

COMPLETELY different? Not really.
Juggernaut? I'm thinking no.
The term juggernaut is used to describe any literal or metaphorical force regarded as unstoppable; that will crush all in its path. In Britain, it is also used to refer to any large and heavy lorry. An older meaning is for any institution that incites destructive devotion or to which people are carelessly sacrificed.

That's nice, dear.
Still, they are two different things. I can't watch the movie and come out with the same feeling as seeing the show live, and vise versa.

Harvey has a few rehersal pics up on his MySpace page. I'm sooo happy he's coming back to give the show the sendoff it truly deserves. I get excited just thinking of how much better of a show, and how much more fun for audiences it will be to have him back as Edna as opposed to George.

I guess I'm still a Hairspray noob; we've only seen it once, with George Wendt.
I thought he was hilarious BECAUSE of the effort he had to put into it. At the same time, my mom and I were like wanting to call 911. I liked him because the man in drag effect was very much there. Then again I have no one to compare him to but would love to see Harvey obviously.
My 3 year old is *obsessed*. We go between the original Hairspray DVD and the new movie on almost a daily basis so it would be nice to have something else for our collection. She saw the show with us last winter and loved it so for her to be able to relive that through a dvd of the show would be awesome. They are three totally different animals and I'm glad that she loves all three. Watching the few bootleg clips on youtube is getting old too!
In a perfect world (for us anyway) there would be a dvd of the final performance with some behind the scenes action. Who wouldn't want to re-live the excitement of the last performance?
Anyway, I thought I read here or somewhere else that Rent did a recording of the final performance so I was crossing my fingers that they'd do it for Hairspray.
All that and we're from B'more (hon). When we went to the 'hon fest this summer, my poor daughter was so confused, she thought every house belonged to Tracy and had to sit on every stoop. I love the new movie, but John Travolta and his horrible excuse for a Baltimore accent drives me up a wall!!!! So to have something else in the rotation would be pretty sweet if only for that reason.
