Hamilton House Seats Question

Hamilton House Seats Question

#1Hamilton House Seats Question
Posted: 1/19/16 at 9:24pm

I have done searches and can't find an answer to this question. I have a good friend whose son is an exec in Hollywood...he got to see Hamilton in "house seats" through a fellow big wig Broadway connection. The son offered to get us tickets… Which is a good thing. My friend and I would like to see it but not living in New York City etc. it's going to be one expensive trip. The question is this… We have been told that basically we provide a credit card number… The Hollywood guy makes a phone call to the assistant of the Broadway contact and then they hopefully get us "House seats" for Hamilton before 2120.

Box office top is $177… Sure don't want to pay $500 etc.… Can anybody give any kind of enlightening information about this? Would house seats be above that or just regular tickets that they hold aside?   Do house seats have a different price structure? Apparently it would be gauche to say "please don't spend more than $200 on a ticket etc"... They get them, your charge card is charged and that's it…I just don't want to end up with two $500 seats…Thanks for any help you can provide!!

Can't you just ask your good friend?  Or is he the one who told you it was gauche to know how much money you're spending before you spend it?

I've purchased lots of house seats through cast members, and knowing the price and such in advance is rarely an issue. I have never been charged premium pricing even when those rows had premiums in front of and behind that row, although is that the case for Hamilton?! Who knows?

Yes… It is considered bad form to talk about pricing… His dealings have been bigwig to bigwig assistant and money is not discussed nor is it an issue for them. Oh to be part of the 1%!

I know a few people who have gotten house seats and they are $177.

Thank you and to the other posters with helpful info. I guess worst case I could always sell them if they are really crazy expensive because for this show I guess they can be! And they would certainly be very good seats so… There is also that… OY to the Vey!

Yeah, my boss's house seats were around $177 when we got them. They don't usually charge for premium unless specifically asked for.

My "house seats" we're recently $177 though I paid $150 shortly after the show opened on Broadway.

Could anybody get me house seats? I'd be glad to pay full price (or up to $100 more per seat). Please PM me.

Do you know someone in the show? Then, no.

There are definitely other ways to go about getting house seats, it's all about who you know and if those people have access BUT asking on a message board for someone to go out of their way to get someone they don't know seats, well it's a bit tacky.

That was my point. Also, I know everyone involved with Hamilton is constantly getting house seat requests from everyone they know, and friends of friends, and their brother's friend's hairdresser. Do you really think they want to put in a request for a rando they don't even know?

I have a friend who has a friend who is a spouse of the cast member in the show, and they couldn't get the house seats, they only could get SRO tickets through the connection. When I had a friend in a big hit show (not Ham), I had to submit my request and they only took one month in advance of the date(s) you'd like to go and I still had to list from top 1 to 3 dates. And I was still told that it's not guaranteed to get the house seats (although at that time I did get them). I'm sure Ham has a hierarchy of VIP for the house seats, so don't book a flight until you get a confirmation of the house tickets.

All of this is very standard, regardless of a hit or not

Hmm when I got a house seat from another actor friend for a big musical show on Broadway I just told the date I want to see and it wasn't this big deal. But maybe things have changed.

I mean if it's not a hit its easier to get the date you want, but generally speaking they ask for multiple dates just in case

Someone is posting their +1 house seat on CL. Is that appropriate? Seems like if you don't need 2, you shouldn't have 2

Appropriate or not people should not buy a ticket on craigslist, there was an article about fake tickets on NYT just a few days ago. Besides, I thought the house tickets can be only picked up on the day of. So is the seller saying "meet with me at the box office."?

It's not "appropriate" but I don't think it's illegal.

Ha, I was actually contacted by the writer of the article bc I had posted elsewhere how he almost scammed me but I googled his number before agreeing and found a Reddit thread exposing him as a crook. That was in August and he's still at it. I would never buy a CL tix that isn't TM transferred anyway.

And yeah, house seats guy wants to meet at box office. I just thought it was innapropriate. It doesn't matter to me bc I'm going on Saturday with another board member.

True house seats are NOT priced at premium prices, but because the show is in such demand, the producers and performers and creative staff have requests for their house seats stretching intro the summer and fall. They are unlikely to extend those benefits to the friends-of-friends-of-friends level.

That said, there are a lot of untrustworthy people out there claiming that the tickets they are selling are "house seats," either to lend credibility or to mask a scam.

Buyer beware.
