Hey all, I am seeing Hamilton in Chicago in November and one of my seats has a "partially obstructed view," I think there's a pole or something in the way. Has anyone who has gone to the previews or who knows the theatre know just how obstructed the view is? I'm pumped to see it regardless. Thanks!

It depends on where your seats are. Some of the obstructed view seats are fine... some of them are directly behind a lighting instrument.

I know it's in the balcony. I think it may be behind a pole?

I've heard that the poles aren't bad if you can look around them.

I just sat behind the pole the other day. I'd seen the show before so it was fine. But it's not great and is honestly among the poorer "limited view" seats I've sat in. You can lean and see around it so you don't miss anything major but there is a good chunk of the stage you can't see so you miss the full choreography and staging. It was fine for me having seen the show multiple times but honestly I would've been disappointed if it were my only time to see it.

I think it's great you're going to see it but if you really like the show after seeing it from the balcony, try to see the show again in either front mezz (which i think is the best seating area) or in orchestra seat. I haven't seen the Chicago production but have seen the Broadway production several times from all different parts of the theater and it's *almost* a different experience seeing the facial expressions and tears of the actors up front.

Just found out that we're going to be in Chicago this August, and I was surprised to see there's pretty good availability for the show the week we'll be there.

From reading through the threads here, and combing through TripAdvisor and A View From My Seat, the consensus seems to be that seats in the mezzanine are generally good, especially the front half of the mezz. What I haven't seen are reports on what the "limited view" seats are like in the mezz.

There are seats available in Row A of the mezz on the extreme sides (Mezz R, Seats 10-12) that are limited view, but the seats right behind them in Row B are not labeled that way. Are they just limited view because you can't see the back corner of the same side of the stage, or is there a lot of lighting equipment in the way, or something else? If it's the back corner issue, which side of the stage is better to sit on for this show, right or left? Or does it not matter?

If you had to choose between sitting front row extreme side mezz or sitting further back but closer to the center, what would you choose? We've never seen the show before, and will be seeing it from the rear right orch in LA a couple weeks later, if that makes a difference.

TIA for any input.

I was the original poster and the limited view seating was not bad at all. Was able to see everything except the very very front of the stage because of the height.

I sat in Row E of the mezzanine on the very far left and could see just fine.

I was in the last row of one of the Dress Circle Boxes and it was fine with the exception of seeing part of the closest side of the stage.  I had seen the show a few times already, so it was fine for me.  I wouldn't recommend the seats in the first few rows of the box, the seats looked like they are behind a giant speaker.  I think these could be lottery seats, but I am not sure.
