Ughhhh, I have to see this!!!
CBS Sunday Morning
Nice to see a little more footage of the show throughout the interview.
If anyone else is finding the youtube video isn't working for them, BWW's version might work better for you too.

I felt they gave away some of the best jokes!
How can you watch this and not want to go?

"I felt they gave away some of the best jokes!"
I agree, why do they keep doing that? It makes me so mad.
I actually told my husband not to watch it! (He's seeing Hamilton with me in July.) First off, as I mentioned, the CBS show ruins some of the best jokes, plus the visual of King George, which is way funnier if it's a surprise to you. Plus, if you haven't seen Hamilton already, to get it introduced to you in bits and pieces, I felt it may not come off as well as it would onstage. For instance, when Lafayette and Hamilton high-five each other. It seems a bit jokey. Just my humble opinion.
Edited to add: I think the segment is very well done though. I like the Chernow footage and hearing Renee Elise Goldsberry talking about her father's reaction to her being cast.

On the contrary...I am so glad that I watched because it solidified that I would be completely uninterested in watching a RAP musical.
I feel like I keep seeing people say that they aren't interested in the show because of the rap, and it's like...I've never much liked rap, but I LOVED In the Heights and Hamilton. For me growing up, rap was always that dumb music that my douchey older brother blasted from his bedroom reeking of weed. But like, that's not what this is. It's just a different form of artistic expression than you might be used to, and it's done really well and earnestly.

JBroadway I agree that it is a valid form of artistic expression. Let me know how attending an opera or ballet works for you and then let's continue the discussion.
I know I do not like this type of performance. Why would I pay to go see something I know I wouldn't enjoy? I have nothing against the show and wish it all the best success.

I think the show's score skews much closer to a traditional musical theater score than these clips or the press would have you think.
I despise rap music. When a song veers into rap, I typically turn it off immediately. However, there are some fantastic sung melodies in Hamilton. And the "rap" is much closer to slam poetry than popular rap music. I viewed it as an effective way to write the entire show in verse - and the rhymes and creativity in the language only enhance the story and draw you in.
I also disliked In the Heights quite a bit, but I really loved this show.

My point was that you can dislike rap and still like the musical. But I see your point too. Agree to disagree.

I have attended ballets and operas...not sure what your point was supposed to be there....
I was very dubious when I first went in, too. I didn't think I would like Hamilton at all! It's nice to be surprised.
Damn, the more I watch and read about this show, the more I'm dying to see it.
