Anyone know if there is a plan to publish the sheet music from Hamilton? I have some students that are looking to use some of the songs for auditions.

If I remember well, Lin-Manuel said on twitter that it was in the works but it would take time.

I am curious to know which shows your students are auditioning for that have a score so similar to Hamilton that they would think it beneficial to sing from it.
If they are auditioning for the NY company the casting dir will send over the songs.

It's for our high school musical. We are doing legally blonde. He is looking to sing "You'll be back"

Lin said recently he hopes for them to be released by June or so. But I've seen some transcriptions online (most of them are for You'll Be Back).

Ah, that makes sense.
Perhaps you may want to explain to your student that the song is an homage to early Beatles music so if he could pretty much pick any early Beatles song and sing it effetely and it may be just as effective a choice for the gay characters he is auditioning for.
Of course I know he want so sing You'll Be Back because it is from Hamilton and The Beatles, in his eyes, will never compare to the genius that is Lin Manuel.
How amazing it is that in the US we have now reached a point where high school students can now audition for gay characters. Bravo.

There are characters in Legally Blonde that aren't gay, in case you didn't know.

I know it's supposed to be Britpop, but the song doesn't sound remotely like the early Beatles to me. Maybe it's the arrangement and the lack of harmonies, I don't know.

The song reminded me immediately of an Elton John song, not a Beatles song.

Singing a Beatles song for a musical audition is the one of the worst ideas I've ever heard and I'm also pretty positive that You'll Be Back is based on Elton John and not the Beatles.

I've heard stuff about it being based on the Beatles, but it doesn't really remind me of much of their stuff. I know towards the end Lacamoire stole a bit of orchestration from a Beatles song.

I read an interview with Lacamoire (on playbill.com I think) where did say he the orchestration of You'll Be Back is an homage to The Beatles circa Sgt. Pepper/Abbey Road.
