I love love love Jerry Herman. The first time I ever heard Put on Your Sunday Clothes, I started actually sobbing from how happy it made me feel. It was a very bizarre experience. I'd have to go with that song as not only my favorite Jerry Herman tune, but my favorite theatre song too.

Carol Channing at her one night even mentioned that he was writing a musical for a German premiere, but I couldn't find anything on it.

I second "If He Walked into My Life" as one of Herman's best numbers. I can't determine if it would be THE best, but certainly Top 5.

Even though I love all the songs in Mame and Mack and Mabel, I still think that Dear World has the absolute best score Mr. Jerry Herman ever wrote.
