Happy Birthday to Tallulah Bankhead!

She was born on January 31, 1902. Tallulah was a complicated woman.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Happy Birthday to Tallulah Bankhead!

As a matter of coincidence, my father (technically, my step-father), was also born on January 31, 1902. He outlived Miss Bankhead by a scant two years. He was an uncomplicated man.

I miss them both.

Happy Birthday to Tallulah Bankhead!

When I was a chairman at the Denver Center we would have our board meetings with Donald Seawall, the Founder of the Denver Center. He was very good friends with Bankhead. His office and conference room were filled with memorabilia and personal items. It was pretty cool. Our meetings would always start with him telling a personal story about his friendship with Ms Bankhead. I was always early to meetings!
