Proud to call the Commonwealth of Virginia my birthplace and home for eighteen years (until I reached college age and moved to New York). Gotta love anything that gives Virginia its due, and 1776 is no exception.

Spent the day visiting with Martha and George at their lovely plantation on the Potomac -- little place named Mount Vernon. Lovely day with soldiers demonstrating battle techiques, birthday cake, a concert full of American music (John Philip Sousa's works were largely in evidence) and even a conversation with the General and his Mrs. Now I need to dig out the 1776 dvd...
