Proud to call the Commonwealth of Virginia my birthplace and home for eighteen years (until I reached college age and moved to New York). Gotta love anything that gives Virginia its due, and 1776 is no exception.

Posted: 7/4/08 at 6:07pmSpent the day visiting with Martha and George at their lovely plantation on the Potomac -- little place named Mount Vernon. Lovely day with soldiers demonstrating battle techiques, birthday cake, a concert full of American music (John Philip Sousa's works were largely in evidence) and even a conversation with the General and his Mrs. Now I need to dig out the 1776 dvd...

Indubitab-Lee!
I do so love that movie. I haven't had time to watch it today, and I won't be up that late, but I gotta watch it again soon.
Anyone watching Brian Stokes Mitchell right now? (Sorry if there's a thread on it -- didn't see it.) Marvelous!

"'And after all, what is a man profited that he shall gain Maryland and lose the entire South?' Matthew, chapter 16, verse 26."
Great line.
