Happy Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Pride on Broadway and all over the world!!!
So with the upcoming NY, SF and major worldwide pride next week....lets support equality, diversity and tolerance.
So now lets be thankful to what the Gays have done to the world of Broadway and to the World that we know right now.
List the things you are thankful for and the major GLBTQ accomplishment you are proud of....
Let me start:
Thank God for Broadway Bares!
Alexander the Great
St. Paul and the eunuchs!
Andy Warhol
Mark Twain
All the Gay and Lesbians in the military who deserve the abolition of Don't Ask Don't Tell policy.
And to the millions who are getting married in California, Massachussets and Canada!

i totally agree with even though i am straight i believe in the lgbt and i am pissed broadway bares cost so much and i can not make it.
Our parade was today. The 4th largest in the US. Happy Pride from Denver.
Holla! Raise the roof!!
Well I'm a straight, married female, but I join in in wishing you all Happy Pride Days!

I'm thankful for this.
And Laura Benanti's LEGS, which grace my avatar.
Why are you "pissed" Broadway Bares in expensive? All proceeds go the charity (BroadwayCares/Equity Fights Aids)
And why does it need to be pointed out that you're straight when showing your support for gay rights?

I guess it's not necessary. Sorry. I take it back then?
i know it goes to charity but for an college student like me it does feel real expensive. it does look like and alot of fun broadway bares an event i would really love to go to. plus broadway cares is the biggest charity for aids/hiv.
hope all of the parades are fun but forget nyc parade date since its a different date in june every year.

hooray
Yankee: They usually release the ceremony on DVD, via Broadway Cares website, for a more friendly price.
I didn't mean to bite at you StockardFan, this Average Joe has me in an "angry gay mood".
And I"m busy calling all the gay Tony winners to recall their statues...
thanks i forgot they put it on dvd, so i will buy that...hope those sales go to bcfa. some people still think if you are straight you should not support lgbt and i think those people are really stubborn. i really hope new york becomes the third state to make gay and lesbian marriages legal real soon, our economy will go up. i am also on the averagejoe bandwagon..angry and pissed off.
Thanks to Terrence Howard and the gay part he portrays!
Yay! Much love to all!
I am greatful for Robin DeJesus and the role he played in Camp, and the song "La Vie Boheme"! (and many, many other things!)
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofusame here, i am looking for it on movie demand or i might just rent billy elliot from there for 24 hours.
hope all of the parades are fun but forget nyc parade date since its a different date in june every year.
The NYC Pride Parade is ALWAYS the last Sunday in June.
thanks i cant make it though, i will be in disney.
Every major culture has at least one big festival a year celebrating those that paved the way. Gay pride in no different.
I too am annoyed and pissed by some of the things that Average Joe has said on this forum. That said, there is no reason why you can't be straight and support the LGBT community. If white people were allowed to march with blacks during the civil rights movement in the 60's then there is no reason why straight people cant stand side by side with the LGBT community in their fight for equal rights.
I tend to think that my way of thinking is a little advance for this day and age (must be part of how I was raised.) I feel that at times I don't "get" this whole need for having LGBT pride events because I feel that it should be a point in time when this isn't a problem that people shouldn't have to fight for these kinds of rights which I feel should be a given in this day and age.
Something is wonky with the format for this thread. I just responded to winston's post and now it shows me posting my reply prior to him creating his post. Weird!

There are no DVDs of Broadway Bares on the Broadway Cares web site, only a $55.00 book

Yankees1253, don't worry about AverageJoe. Hopefully, he's a snot nosed fifteen year old kid with identity issues, furiously typing between jags of self gratification in his parents' basement.
Or perhaps, he's an adult who will spout that bile in public to the wrong (insert one of his putrid remarks here) and end up dead in a gutter.
I'll lear to live with either situation.
Puppetman2..... check out ebay. I saw a bunch of Broadway Bares DVD just the other day.
You're right lepetite you shouldn't have to fight for basic rights the rest of us have, but I know you still do. Things are moving in the right direction, but unfortunately there are still idiots like averagejoe that will fight you every step of the way.
Was he banned btw?
Mark Twain?
