Has Amy Morton announced a departure date from August yet?

Anyone know when Amy Morton is leaving August to go back to Steppenwolf? I'd love to try and catch her again - and hope the Tony goes to her... although Deanna Dunagan is also extremely deserving.

I was thinking today about possible replacements... what about Laurie Metcalf? She's Steppenwolf as well, and seems to have the same sensibilities.

Why and when is Martin leaving?

Though I know Morton is sticking around, I don't see anyone being any more perfect for Barbara in the future than Christine Lahti.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Foster, Lahti is best known for her multi-year turn on "Chicago Hope" back in the late nineties, for which she won both an Emmy and a Golden Globe amidst quite a few nominations for both.

The best work of her career was in the short-lived (but critically lauded) television series "Jack & Bobby," where she played the mother of a young boy who would eventually grow up to be President.

She was also nominated for an Oscar for a film called "Swing Shift" in the late eighties.

She's done several things on Broadway too, though not in quite some time.

She hasn't done Broadway in 18 years. I doubt she'd return after so long for a low-paying gig as a replacement in a role that won another actress a Tony Award.

Foster, I wasn't talking about whether or not Lahti would actually do the show, though she has been in quite a bit of theater out in LA as of late.

I just meant that she is perfect for Barbara and would be fantastic if she ever did play the role.

I'm not sure who will replace her, but after seeing Amy Morton's understudy - Dee Pelletier, I think she's very deserving of the role. She did a phenomenal job!

I'd also love to see Laurie Metcalfe replace her.

I saw Dee Pelletier as Ivy, and she was just okay. Definite props to her knowing the roles of all the sisters though.

Laurie Metcalf is Steppenwolf ensemble, right? She is Jeff Perry's ex-wife.. Imagine if she did play Barbara, that would be wonderfully and fantastically nuts.

Wonder who will replace Dunagan.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

"Why and when is Martin leaving?"

Sometime this month to film "Californication." Her (amazing) understudy, Molly Ranson, will take over while she is gone.

edit: April 15th is Molly's first performance. I honor of it, here's a video of her singing "Back to Before" from Ragtime.
