And to be completely honest, I loved every second of it. It's not spectacular theater but if you know ANYTHING about the Bombay film industry, you're bound to enjoy it. It's like watching an old Bombay musical.

Okay, so maybe it's a guilty pleasure.

Loved it! Beautiful score, beautiful costumes, electrifying choreography, sets and script could have been better (except the fountain, which was AWESOME). I would gladly see it again. I really wish there was a recording of the Broadway score and cast, which was MUCH stronger than the London cast recording. I know the show is scheduled to kick off a national tour. I hope I get to see it again. It really deserved a longer run. I think people were put off by the traditional Bollywood story format, which is always cheesy and predictable, but that's part of the charm. I would love to see Monsoon Wedding hit the stage. It features a much more powerful story, could easily be adapted for a musical, and with an A.R. Rahman score, could be a goldmine.

I was actually not going to post this but have decided to anyways. Concerning the original Prya verses Tamrya Gray, the fact is that this was Indian music and Tamrya couldn't hit the notes or sing the way songs like "How many Stars" needed to be sung. I can't describe how Indian music has to be sung because I'm not a vocal expert but it has to do with 'moving' your voice up and down. Anyone know what I mean?

By the way, the original Pyra in the Broadway cast was a brillant college student from NYU who actually quit school to be in the production.She was an amazing talent!

Either way, her acting was great though and she looked gorgeous!

I don't believe they have cast it. I know when I talked to a rep at the end of last month they were still casting it so it may just barely be going into rehearsals or final callbacks.
