Posted: 1/31/06 at 4:26pmOkay, 'fess up. I always seen us complaining about other rude audience members, but, have you ever been one and want to admit it? I'll admit I might've been annoying the persons next to me when I was trying to take off my huge winter coat with little movement and little noise (not that easy) once the show already started.

Posted: 1/31/06 at 4:28pmI don't think so..if I've done anything that bothered someone I probably didn't notice it..but I know that I've been with friends who talked a lot during RENT. It bothered me, so I assumed it had to have bothered other people.

During one of the four hour early previews of Chess, the entire rear mezz, myself included, was talking about what a mess the show was.
However the sound system was so loud you could barely hear yourself much less anyone else.

I once got these giggle fits during a show. Several years ago in Seattle I went to see Cheno in concert. WHat I didn't know is that Act II of this event would be a choral piece about breast cancer. Well, it was just awful. It was campy, and just overdramatic. They sing this song about breast exams, and then Cheno comes out to sing with them, and is wearing this very revealing top. I just couldn't take it! My friend and I bought cheap seats in the balcody, and before the show, a house manager offered us closer tickets on the loge. So we move to these great seats, are stuck between all these doners and fancy people, and I could not stop laughing. I tried so hard, but I just started heaving from laughter. I couldn't get up, because I was dead center of the aisle. I had to dig my nails into my arm, so I would stop laughing. Everyone around me was looking at me, so I put my head into my hands and pretended to cry.

lol before Spelling Bee started. The lady i was by was with a friend but she was 2 rows up and they wanted to sit together. So she asked if i would move. I said sure why not. (which honestly took forever to do cause i had no clue where the lady was pointing)
But instead of going around to get to it ... i decided to try to squeese through some of the seats and almsot took out 2 old ladies :)

Posted: 1/31/06 at 4:37pmWell last night I managed to annoy an audience member when I went to see Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? in London. I stood up and leaned back in my seat to let my friend past me to sit down after she came back from buying a program when I was tapped on the back. I turned around to the guy sat behind me and said "sorry, did you want something?" and he said "well you were leaning a bit far back you know". I replied "yeah well, I'm just letting my friend by and now I'm sitting down, so you can get over it."

I don't think so. My first Broadway experience was ruined almost entirely by a woman behind me who chatted with her children for 3/4 of the show. So I'm really sensitive about not being rude.
Well, O.K., my friends and I were a bit loud during our applause at "Forbidden Broadway," but not during the acts. And the lady in front of us seemed to appreciate how lively we were.

Posted: 1/31/06 at 4:40pmWhen I saw Sweeny, there was a lady behind me who was very tall. And apparently whenever I moved the seat hit her knees and so i guess that made me annoying and she made a very big deal about it at intermission. I'm a horrible person.

Percy: Sink me! If it isn't Javvurt!
Javert: Zsah-vair, it's pronounced Zsah-vair.
Pecry: But it's spelled J-A-V-E-R-T Javvurt.
Javert: Repeat after me Zsah...Zsah....
Percy: Oh! Zsa-Zsa! Like the Gabor sister! Well I personally have always prefered Eva.

Posted: 1/31/06 at 5:44pmIt wasn't my fault, but when I saw Wicked at the Kennedy Center, there were people sitting in my sister and my seats, so we had to stand in the aisle at the front of the balcony up through The Wizard and I. The woman to our left kept doing the annoyed huff, but the usher that was helping us told us to wait there, then disappeared. What did the woman expect us to do?

I had my friend visiting from Alaska, so we went to see RENT after winning lotto. Naturally, we were in the front row. He cried so hard during Angel and Mimi's (almost) death scenes, and for some reason I thought it was so funny to see him crying that my friend Alexis and I fell into a furious fit of giggles during the emotional scenes. Of course, the whole cast can look right at us. I couldn't stage door I was so afraid they'd yell at me.
And I can't see Phantom for the life of me with my sister. No matter how much anyone threatens her, she can't stop singing along with the show.

Well, it's unfortunate but every time my high school's musical rolls around, I catch a really nasty flu bug. (Has happened at every show I've seen since the 5th grade!) I really hate to miss performances, because you know high school shows only run for 6 or 7 performances, then you can never see them again. So I went to see South Pacific when I was REALLY sick-and ended up coughing/suppressing coughs through the whole performance! (Although I came up with a good system of only coughing during applause!)
I annoyed so many people....

I made a few remarks back YEARS ago when an older couple in front of me kept dropping bombs during "6 RMS RIV VU". It was a very funny and fast moving comedy and they wouldn't stop! I HAD to speak up.
Other than that, I yell out "Bravo - Brava" and if really thrilled, I whistle, loud!
I did start to doze once, But it wasn't the show, too many cocktails at a famous pre-show spot. Lucky for me I was sitting first row and next to a very famous film legend/actress from Italy. She gave me a quick zap with her arm and I whispered "Was I out long?" She replied "Not at all, That's why I nudged you". I said "Gratzi Bella!" and she smiled and whispered "Prego Bambino!". We went backstage together after the show and everyone was just lovely! (I think everyone thought I was with this lady, but in fact we met by fate - she acted as if I were though and was a Doll!)
I wont say who it was but she is a legend the world over and is still alive. It was FUN!

yes actually I have... not at a broadway production- but my last time seeing rent in the theatres my friends and I dressed up like Mimi, angel, and I was maureen- we ended up dancing in the aisles and singing our lungs out at the end of the show... There was one guy in the theatre with us and he didn't seem to mind... It was so much fun...
(I had the Jump over the moon dance mastered. haha)

Posted: 1/31/06 at 6:50pmWell I remember at this one show I went to (school show) I think it was Emma, I dropped a glass bottle and it hit the ground right in the middle of FairFax's song. It wasn't too loud but yeah I felt bad. Of course I got heat from some stage parents. I love pissing them off :)

I'm not sure if this annoyed anyone besides the person..but
when me and my friend saw ASU we asked the usher if we could sit in the box seats, since no one was sitting there. He said "yea sure. no one has tickets for those seats tonight." so we took them. And 10 minutes after the show started people had bought tickets to those seats and they were just standing there looking at us. We were so embarased.

OK, OK, I confess. When I saw TMM from the second row, I dropped a Baby Bottle Pop, quietly said, "Sh*t" and cleaned some of the mess up. I didn't miss any of the show, though.
...
Hey, it was my parent's idea to bring food into the theatre. I should've tried to stop them, but what's done is done.

Posted: 1/31/06 at 8:35pmI dropped an empty soda bottle during "Psalm 918" at Altar Boyz. I was front row dead center. The lead guy gave me a funny look. I almost cried.

Posted: 1/31/06 at 8:41pmAhem... Hil, that was my show. Anyway, during the intermission of Caroline, or Change, I called my mom to tell her when I thought that it would be over, and after, I turned my cell phone on vibrate. A few minutes into the second act, and my mom calls me back. Even though it was on vibrate, it made Really loud buzzing sounds. I felt so ashamed.

I can't say I have. I've also been fortunate enough not to be in the presence of many.
..I really hope I didn't just jinx myself.
