Have you heard...?

Since I originally posted this the number of people who have dared to test their knowledge of musical theatre history has more than doubled.

We are now at 770! Terrific!!

Venture where no can of hairspray has sprayed.

Sneak into a world free of the wicked.

Stroll through the little shop of musical theatre classics.

It sure is a wonderful town but sometimes one has to cross avenue q to learn that beauty existed before.

The quiz is not taboo.

Chicago is full of cabarets but you won't find assassins there.

Don't be a gyp, see how well you score.

Even a fiddler on the roof can't resist the lure of More of Loessser.

I think someone needs to get away from the computer a little more often.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I know someone sings I believe in you to Finch in the movie, but is that something added for just the movie becuase in that case both answers are right? (I don't think that gives anything away.) Anyone familiar with both the movie and the stage production able to confirm or deny this?

What I meant to say it is sung by someone to someone, but it is also sung by someone other than that first some to the same someone in the movie. This is confusing. I just didn't want to give a question away. I guess I;ll have to somewhat. In the movie, Rosemary sang it to Finch when he dropped her off at her apartment. It was also sang another time by the correct answer to the quiz. Does she sing it to him in the stage production too?

I haven't seen a production of the original, unchanged material for How to Succeed in a long long time, but I think there is an "I Believe In You" reprise that Rosemary sings after Finch's Treasure Hunt fiasco.

In the movie the apartment scene was before the fiasco. Hmmm I'll check out the cast recording online.

I always thought "I Belive In You" was intended for Rosemary to sing when it was originally written but, it seemed to fit in with Finch's character better if he sang it to himself in the mirror. Rosemary does the reprise

In the film, the marvelous Michelle Lee sings the first version of I BELIEVE IN YOU to Bobby Morse on the steps of her apartment building. Morse then signs it to himself in the executive washroom.

On stage, the first time we hear I BELIEVE IN YOU is in the exec washroom. Rosemary then sings the reprise after the Treasure Hunt (good memory, magruder!)

Rob, who'd sell his mother to play Finch.
