does anyone else think he sounds like adam levine from maroon 5?

Was anybody else at Drama Book Shop a few years back for the panel discussion with Adam, MJ LaChiusa, and Jason Robert Brown where Adam sang something from Piazza with his guitar. I can't remember what song he sang but I remember it was amazing. I think it might have been Fable but I really don't know the show well enough yet.
How do I get this
is Peter Sachon playin on it?
I wasn't there, but from speaking with people who were I think it was "Love to Me." That would fit if he accompanied himself on guitar, as he has performed the piece on guitar for interviewers and such a couple of times.
Wow. I've heard him sing before, but it never ceases to amaze me how his singing voice is so much higher than his speaking voice. He sounds so different! I adore Adam Guettel.

Adam Guettel is officially the most talented man in NY(IMO). His voice is as gorgeous as his music. You have no idea how happy it made me that his "Love To Me" demo was on the site. It took my breath away, he's been doing alot of that lately. I wish he'd record songs from Piazza and Floyd Collins and release them. I love this man!

how do you guys get the songs on the npr site to work on your computer? what programs are you using? it won't work for me and i'm dying to hear him sing light in the piazza
fyi, he also sings several songs on the ricky ian gordon album, "bright eyed joy." (it also has ms. audra mcdonald, judy blazer, darious dehaas, dawn upshaw, and others!). it's great he's getting all this attention now, but i've always felt a little bit over ownership since floyd. i mean, myths and hymns is one of the coolest song cycles ever. the lyrics are just brilliant. i've been looking forward to piazza for a long time, and i'm so glad it's successful and reaped many awards. anyone else get a little jealous, though, when "their" star suddenly gets attention?

feinstein, i know what you mean. i've been feeling that way a lot with bill finn this year. i want to educate some people about falsettos and the whole trilogy and a new brain and elegies and infinite joy.
totally feelin' your pain, darcey! for what it's worth, i quite enjoy the full Finn catalogue. finn education is important, so keep talking to your friends about his past work

absolutely! now i need to get floyd collins though, so i can be well versed in my guettel knowledge!
i'm wondering what nonesuch's reason was for putting the demos up. They weren't there last week. I believe anyone who bothers to listen to the demos has already bought the music. And nonesuch has already put up four songs from Piazza sung by the Broadway cast. Is it to get us internet theater geeks talking even more about Piazza?

you know, i was thinking the exact same thing midtown... why would they do this, and why now? but does no one know how to listen to him singing the light in the piazza from the npr link? please?
I heart beats A-dam, A-dam. "Hero and Leander" is one of my favorite songs to listen to. His vocals soar and hearing his early Piazza work is a fresh remind how talented he truely is.
Ah, love "Hero and Leander."
Gosh, all of his guy songs are sooo high! Why o why, Mr. Guettel? I love you, but can you please write some baritenor-ish songs?
"Love to Me"'s not too high now that I think about it.
~Steven
MrMusic, I totally agree with you, too. I'd kill for Mr. Guettel to write a bariton song! ::drools over the possibilites::
I love "hero and leander"! I get all teeny-bopperish and think he's singing it to me, lol! I just realized that my mp3 player has a recorder so I recorded the demos and am so happy that I can hear these songs whenever I want. Adam Guettel's voice is so freakin' sexy!
I too have had a few moments where I felt like "my" composer was suddenly being overtaken by the masses, but Adam Guettel is hardly a mainstream sensation, and the majority of individuals that he has recently won over seem to be as genuinely touched by Piazza as I was by Floyd a few years ago. I welcome any and all musical theater fans to embrace his genius and hop on board.

All that talent and him purty too!
I read that no only is he the one doing the singing in these excerpts, but he's also the one playing piano and guitar as well!
And, of course, that's Adam singing Bucchino's "Unexpressed" on the Grateful CD.
Talented, indeed!
I love the jazz arrangements of Guettel's demos - I would gladly pay to have an entire album of those arrangements - with him scatting the notes instead of the words - thats really beautiful stuff!
Wow.
I'm speechless. He's just so good.

I had heard of these... I just never thought that I would hear them for myself. I love the jazzy versions of some of my favorite songs, it's definitely different.
