re: Have you seen the new CHITTY TV spot?

huh. I hope he's okay.

They've had some slip-ups (pun not intended) with the understudy inserts lately, though.

:/ I hope he's not out next Wednesday. I already have tickets. I'd hate to have to sell them back. Which I would do...

Marc Kudisch and Ellen Marlow were both out tonight.

I've yet to see that show without an understudy.

Greatdct, I envy youuu.

I've seen it so many times that I guess I shouldn't have expected to see ALL of the shows with the full cast -- I've seen both of Erin's understudies, Marc was out once, Phillip Bosco was out once and Ellen was out once. I *might* hurt somebody if I ever go and Raúl is out. Might.

Chitty is one of those rare family shows that the adults enjoy too! I have taken children and adults with me to see Chitty on 4 occasions. Everyone had a fun time! No one was bored. This is exactly what theater needs, unless we are willing to let theatre appeal only to those who demand every show be cutting edge, have a strong message, or only for those who worship Sondeim. Bway needs to keep going after new audiences with shows like Chitty, Spamalot and yes, jukebox musicals like Mamma Mia! Ticket sales do keep us working!

Oh I didn't see it last night, a friend of mine did. But I am seeing it twice on Wednesday! re: Have you seen the new CHITTY TV spot?

I love seeing understudies, but I agree - never without Raúl. I've seen it three times and I've seen a different Jemima every time. Shesh!

I'm going to PM you something! re: Have you seen the new CHITTY TV spot?

Moi? Hooray!

A tiny part of me is curious to see one of Raul's understudies. But I'd be heartbroken.

I've seen three different Caractacus Potts, and they all played the role soooo differently. I won't elaborate because I've been told I'm too critical, but it was fun seeing different takes on one role. I've also seen three different Truly's. Not much difference except that Erin seems a bit more comfortable in the role, which is expected I'm sure. I've seen Jan's understudy once, and as good as she was, Jan just owns that part. The children, the main ones, have always been the same kids. Hmm...I hope that commercial gets more people coming to it. It's a refreshing bit a old-school musical theater.

Erin's much funnier. It took seeing someone else to realize how good she actually is.

Jan owns the universe.

I thought Julie Barnes was fine, but she was a mess and all over the place during "Doll on a Music Box".

I also LOVED LOVED LOVED Janelle Viscomi as Jemima Potts. Oh my goodness, I hope you all get the chance to see her. She is just too amazing! I would love to see her again in the role!

re: Have you seen the new CHITTY TV spot?

Julie Barnes has nothing behind her voice even though it's pretty, and Julie Tolivar is kind of pitchy. If you smushed them together, it would either be really good, or it would be a total disaster. They both have excellent chemistry with Mr. E, though. Janelle is so cuuute.
