Hi everyone,
I'm heading to NYC from Feb. 12th to 16th and hoping to see as many shows as possible while I'm there - Sat matinee/evening, Sunday matinee/evening, and Monday.
I'm definitely going to purchase tickets for Color Purple ahead of time (I was holding out for a discount code but only found one for Tues - Thurs), but trying to figure out whether to purchase other tickets ahead of time or wait to rush/TKTS when I am there. I'd like to see Fun Home and Something Rotten as well, but not sure about the others. Maybe School of Rock or Curious Incident on the Monday show?
Any recommendations, and in particular on how/when to buy tickets - hopefully at a bit of a discount? Appreciate it!
Thanks!
Something Rotten and School of Rock are both so fun! My personal favorite is School of Rock though, those kids are amazing. Fun Home is also fantastic. I think all three of those should be on TKTS.

Are you aware of BroadwayBox?

However, since the dates you're going are a holiday weekend, you may find that the dates are blacked out.

Thanks for the link. I had been checking it out but was finding a lot of the dates blacked off (Something Rotten for example) because of the weekend it is. Hopefully there will be some stuff on TKTS as nightnic mention... just not sure whether to chance it and book in advance instead.
I'd suggest Curious Incident, it's lovely and won't be aroudn as long as School.
Fun Home is lovely and Something Rotten is fun.
Have a great time.

Try Curious Incident?

Are you a student? Several of these shows are available for $40ish on Tix4Students, which costs about $5 to join. It's a great discount, especially for shows like Fun Home where most tickets are $100 more than what you'd pay there.
Curious Incident and Something Rotten are two of my favorite shows currently running, so I definitely recommend those two.

School of Rock, you will still be thinking about it long after your trip. Also don't blow the chance to see the original cast. It will be the hilight of your trip. I saw it on Dec 22, my first trip back to New York in ten years, it was.a Last minute choice and I am already planning a trip back in Feb for my birthday to see it again.

Thanks for all the ideas/links!
Unfortunately I can't use Tix4Students, but I was able to get a LincTix ticket for King & I. It also sounds like School of Rock is definitely worth seeing so I purchased a ticket for it with the Broadway Box code (as well as Colour Purple).
I'm going to try to TKTS or Rush for Something Rotten and probably Fun Home when I get there. I'll keep you updated!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all of your help and ideas! Wanted to make a quick report of what I ended up seeing/doing.
I had bought tickets ahead for The Color Purple and School of Rock, and bought a LincTix ticket for King and I. I ended up picking up a lotto loser ticket for Something Rotten and an SRO ticket for Fun Home.
Every show was great for very different reasons but the huge standouts were Cynthia Errivo & Danielle Brooks (Color Purple), Kelli O'Hara (King and I) and Alex Brightman (School of Rock). I couldn't get over how powerful both Cynthia Errivo and Danielle Brooks were in the 2/13 Evening show. If anyone is heading to NYC you should get tickets for sure!
Thanks again for all the help!

Glad you checked back, Justin.
Upon your recommendation I think I will go with Color Purple as well when I head back to NYC at the end of March. I had another friend say it was amazing too.
Last spring I saw Something Rotten and Fun Home, as well, along with An American in Paris, On the Twentieth Century, On the Town, The Visit and Finding Neverland. I really liked them all, for their own reasons, as well. Very different, but all very good.
Although I passed on The King and I (since I've seen it numerous times), I went ahead and bought tickets for my trip next month. Way too many kudos this show has received from fans, including a few "minor" Tonys. I'm in. I want to see Kelli….and glad to see that Ken will be back in the show when I'm in town. Hopefully Kelli is in it the night I see it. According to the Lincoln Center site, she is not out the evening I'm seeing it. But you never know.
Glad you enjoyed your trip.

I completely agree. Such great performances from all of them! So glad you had a great time. Nice selection of shows!
