Headshot choices
Headshot choices#0

Okay.. so I got my headshots taken by Eric Mull, but now I have no idea which one (or two) to choose. I think I need something that looks older since I have a fairly matured baritone/bass voice, but it would also be nice to have a younger looking photo for some unified callbacks. So.. which should I pick?

Posted: 10/21/05 at 12:09pmI agree... 1st and 3rd, and get both if you can. Very nice, by the way!

Posted: 10/21/05 at 12:23pmThe first and the third would be my choice. I like the last one, but it seems a little too posed for my taste.
re: Headshot choices#10
Posted: 10/21/05 at 3:34pmThe first one is the sexiest--no question...and I think the 3rd one on the bottom is sweet--I think it's the biggest contrast.

I work with headshots all the time for our Playbills. Aside form the initial impact of a shot, please think about if it will get too dark if it is converted to black and white. Is your head too small in the picture to have the detail you would want in a small thumbnail that will apear in a program... 3/4 shots are usually bad for this. I am glad none of them are horizontal.. those always look horrid next to all the vertical shots if displayed (and usually are WAY too close up on the face).
I think # 1 is a happy middle to what you are looking for.
re: Headshot choices#15
Posted: 10/21/05 at 4:16pmAs far as look is concerned. None of these pictures looks more mature than the other. You look like a guy in his early to mid 20's to me. That's not gonna change a whole lot for a few years So go with the one you like the best. People seem to like the 1st and the 3rd. I actually have a horizontal headshot and I've never really had an issue with playbills.

Posted: 10/21/05 at 4:53pmMy big problem with Horizontal Headshots are the ones that are all face... forehead to Chin and thats it, they become very hard to crop and work with for other purposes.
re: Headshot choices#18
Posted: 10/21/05 at 5:06pmI vote third and fifth.

1 and 3.
#1 is your "serious theatrical" shot.
#3 is your "commercial boy-next-door" shot.
