I'm completely dumbstruck. He had his whole life ahead of him, you know? And it's a slap in the face to this generation... Reminds us that we're all fragile, even the Hollywood dreamers. He was going to be part of the next wave of American actors. Too young and too beautiful for such a quick loss. My condolences to his fans, friends and family.
Wow
Australian actor Heath Ledger has been found dead in his Manhattan apartment, possibly of a drug overdose.
Police spokesman Paul Browne has confirmed Perth-born Ledger, 28, was found dead by a housekeeper at his apartment in the trendy SoHo neighbourhood.
"We are investigating the possibility of an overdose," Mr Browne said.
According to Mr Browne, the housekeeper found Ledger at 3:26pm (7:26am AEDT) and tried to wake him for his appointment to have a massage

That is so sad. I'm shocked myself. Condolences to his family!
I'm speechless...
Only a few days after the death of Brad Renfro.

Um, this happened about 2 hours ago.
A bit dated already.
Sorry, Heath... or should say I -
Sorry Mary Kate.

What's so bad about posting this in the thread on the OT board?
Correction: same building but it was not in Mary Kate's apartment.
Again... whatever.

How does everyone know he was in her apartment?
All the articles say he was at his own home.
Whatever!?
Sure, deaths happen daily, but ... This guy had a heackova lot to live for - 28 yrs. old!? 'The Joker' in BATMAN!? Come'on! By the way, I was watching CBS when they first broke the story, and they said that he died in HIS apartment, but the complex itself was owned by Mary-Kate? I'm REALLY confused.

Man, this SUCKS.
I was really looking forward to his portrayl of the Joker. I still am, but this sorta kills it a bit.
It shouldn't really matter, I guess, but I hope when the whole story comes out he was doing what he should've been. Because I have so much respect for the dude.

This is very sad news, indeed. The Dark Knight will definitely be dedicated to his memory.

That's so sad! He was a great actor, and a good person. It also sucks that he'll never get to see the completely finished product of The Dark Knight.
As you can see by my avatar, I'm kind of looking forward to his Joker.

I was just shocked when I heard the news and it still feels likes its a really bad joke. I am very sad. I had great respect for him. REST IN PEACE
Filming of The Dark Knight was done for him, but the rumor was that he would be back for the third film.
RIP
This is tragic ! What are a terrible waste ! May he rest in peace.

what a sad loss of talent... i wonder what on earth caused his actions. awful waste of talent.
I really feel for his daughter. She's only two so her memories of her father will be sketchy at best. Let's all keep her in our minds and hearts. Yes, as the daughter of Hollywood actors she'll want for very little materially but to grow up without her father is sad indeed.
That's sad. I watched The Patriot (with gore and blood) when I was six and saw it again in school. I was obssesed with him for while. I feel bad for his young daughter...
