Poor Sherie I adore her. Wonder why Heather did that to her? We'll never know.
I like Heather. She won the Tony for AIDA. I have both her albums. I think she is talanted. I hope she comes back to Broadway in THE COLOR PURPLE.

You can use this information how ever you like but I thought that I would share! Heather IS coming back! From what I have heard she is taking over for Lachanze in "The Color Purple" this is not confirmed but the other cast members are as followed: Natasha Yvette Williams from "All Shook Up" the tour will be replacing Felecia Finley in the part of Sophia in Feb, Heather is due sometime in NOvember. And Deborah Cox is up for Shug with Brandi Massey from Wicked. Just thought that I would share! Lets hope for the best!
Wow, Felicia Finley as Sophia? Now that's something I would pay to see... :)
DREAMGIRLS revival, anyone?
I really doubt Headley would come back as a replacement, even in something as high profile as "The Color Purple" (not to mention the fact that I can't really see her as Celie at all.) Celie is very much a passive character for most of the show, and Heather just comes off as too... agressive. She is more of a Shug, and that is much too small a role for her. Kenita Miller (IMO) should replace LaChanze when she chooses to depart.
Both Brandi Massey and Deborah Cox would be great for the role of Shug. I know Cox was up for it originally, so it'd be interesting if she ended up coming back as a replacement.

Sorry for the misprint I meant Felecia Fields not Finley, but we will see! I think that Kenita personally deserves to take over as well, and she was offered the tour but doesn't want to leave the city. So like I said time will tell, really soon in fact!

If during their careers Angela Lansbury, Ethel Merman, Elaine Stritch and Liza Minnelli weren't too big of stars to be replacements - then certainly Heather Headley (only one starring role on Broadway)isn't.

Never did I say I thought Heather was too big of a star to be a replacement. What I said is that I didn't think she'd replace anyone. Not that she couldn't, but that she personally just wouldn't. She made comments post-"Aida" that seemed to show her belief that she is "above" theater and that a recording career is what she has always wanted, Broadway being secondary to that. I can't see someone with that sort of attitude being a replacement for anyone.
FYI: Not that it matters, but Heather has had two starring roles on Broadway. In addition to "Aida," see was also the original Nala in "The Lion King."
