Posted: 11/19/05 at 7:28pmHands in the shot is cheesy. This is coming from a professional actor here. DON'T choose anything with hands in the shot. If you HAVE to use on of these before you get real ones, go with C, but get new ones ASAP if you wanna send your stuff out anywhere.

I was going to make the yearbook comment but lets just say...I'm glad someone else did first.
*This is not to be mean but I found it funny.*
The first picture sorta looks like "hear no evil"...where is "see no evil" and "Speak no evil?"

Posted: 11/20/05 at 3:45amThough I'm not crazy about the hands on the face, "a" is by far the best smile, the one that makes me say, "Cast that one!"

Posted: 11/20/05 at 3:51amI agree that you need a professional reshoot for your headshots, but i understand that they are expensive. I would agree with the everyone else and say "c". I know that most people have 2 headshots, usually the other one is none smiling (my avatar for instance) so if you don't have any non-smiling shots of yourself I would just stick to one because this is what is typically implied when someone asks for 2 headshots. Also I find that agencies or casting directors also like if one of your "headshots" is more like a 3/4 shot, I've gotten this comment a lot, it's why I eventually just got a comp card, they want an idea of your body size and type, etc. anyways long story short: I like c, and think you should stick with just the one unless you have serious shots also.

I wrote the above post before reading the other comments, not wanting to be influenced by anyone else. I do agree that you might want to start over again, because none of them is quite right. The smile in "a" is by far the best, and without the hands it would be close to perfect, but close to is not enough where headshots are concerned. I like the serious look in one of your fan photos, so I'm linking it here because you might want to go for this kind of look too. The sensitive thoughtful look is a good one too. Your a very good-looking guy, so don't settle for something that doesn't do you justice.

Posted: 11/20/05 at 7:39amI agree that C is probably the best one, but you should pick which ever shot you feel best displays your personality. The last thing that you want to happen, after an audition, is for the casting team to say "which one was that?" There are a lot of people who have headshots that look nothing like they do in person and, even though they gave a good audition, they get lost in the mix because of a bad headshot. When you get a chance, you should try to retake these.

Posted: 11/20/05 at 8:11amI'm not a huge fan of the hands in that picture, but I'm going to say A, because you're smile is nicest in that one. my other choice would be C.

"A" has the most personality, despite "hands in the shot," which don't bother me that much to begin with.
That said... I don't really know your personality, or what qualities you are trying to sell. Are you a comic? A dramatic actor? A goof? A quiet, serious type? (Don't say, "I'm all of those things." Casting directors peg you into a type, so you might as well choose your own strengths before THEY do.)
"A" could be totally nonrepresentational of who you are.
Bottom line: Don't let any of us pick your head shot. Don't let your photographer pick your head shot. Professional or not, he doesn't know you either. They know how to take good pictures, but they are not psychic. They'll offer plenty of opinions though on "aesthetics" but the bottom line is this is YOU.
Trust your own instincts. Pick the shot that sells YOU the best.
