A few years back I was driving through I think Spokane and gal on Gonzaga's college radio station had a Broadway show tune radio show. One of the songs she played was a duet between a gal and a guy. If I remember the gal started on her own, and then the guy started and they were singing different melodies, but were making a beautiful harmony. They were singing in a poppy, almost punky, style. The subject matter was sincere, possibly romantic. The next time I was in front of computer I looked it up on youtube. I found it, listened to the whole song, and loved it. For some reason I made no record of it. Possibly four years later (just the other day) I was listening to Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and I thought about that tune, and I want to hear it again and probably the whole show or recording. But now I have no reference to help me do so. I have literally spent hours trying to figure it out. I have a learned a lot in the process about the modern history of Broadway, but I am still left without much of a clue. Can you help me?

No, but thanks. I know my Green Day, plus I've heard the entire production of that.
Do you remember any lyrics? Even if you remember just a couple words, that might help someone who might know what it is.

"Seventeen" is great. It has a new-wavy vibe. I can't remember a single lyric from the one I'm actually thinking of. But I know they really belt the lines. I suppose you can describe it as souring. "Seventeen" is not really soaring in that way.

You're really giving us nothing to go on here. There are hundreds of pop sounding musicals with duets.

Okay, I will compile a list of musicals and songs which are NOT the one I am looking for.
Let me begin here:
-I am fairly certain it is not a musical written prior to Little Shop of Horrors (1982) as the style is more modern. But, ironically I do find some resemblance to "Suddenly Seymour."
-It didn't seem like a period piece, so it can't be Grease or Miss Saigon, or something like that. I remember the costumes being clearly from the "present day."
Let's start there. More to come.

I pretty sure it is not a play about the African-American or Hispanic-American experience, so that may rule out a few plays as well.
I am also pretty sure it is not in:
Aida (2001)
Billy Elliot (200![]()
Carrie (1988/2012)
CATS (1981)
Dance of the Vampires (1997)
Fame (1980)
Heathers (2014)
Hedwig and the Angry Inch (199![]()
The Lion King (1997)
Kinky Boots (2013)
Lestat (2006)
Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark (2011)*
Tarzan (2006)*
The Toxic Avenger (2009)
The Wedding Singer (2006)
Wonderland (2011)
It is not anything after 2014, either.

Is it from Rooms? Brooklyn?
I mean check out castalbums.org as that is my go to database and just search through composers or performers that have been in the show.

Could be I Don't Do Sadness/ Blue Wind from Spring Awakening. Here is a video clip ( not great quality) from the original cast.
