The only part of the old Henry Miller's that was preserved was what you see, the facade. The new interior will have about the same number of seats as the old but will have one balcony instead of two. It will be all new construction.
The old Henry Miller's was economically difficult since the 1st balcony had more seats than the orchestra and those were tougher to sell.
And no one wanted to sit in the 2nd balcony.
(from IBDB )
circa 1929
I cant wait when it re-opens in 2008 !

I'm not certain whether this cross section of the new Henry Miller's Theatre that ran in The New York Times is to be taken literally, but it doesn't seem like the new interior will be made to resemble the old theatre's interior design.
That is so gorgeous!! Maybe if we're lucky, they will put urinetown back in it :) just kidding but, wishful thinking..

'Tis rumored it is to become Roundabout's 5th stage.
How will they get money out of Henry Miller? He's been dead for decades.
The new auditorium was never meant to be like the old one.
