Hey, just wanted to say hi. I'm new to the board. I've seen 3 shows on Broadway (all except one I loved). I also like the show RENT (hence my screenname!)

Light, go to the "Your Setting" link on the left. Click on "Edit your settings" you will see a box to type in your sig.

I didn't really like 42nd Street. I thought the plot was kinda flimsy.. I loved the dancing though!

Oooo, because you are new, I shall be nice...

I got into a fight with someone about this before.

42nd Street is not supposed to have a good, intense plot - that's the point. If it weren't for the music and dancing, the show would be horrible.

The whole point is to see the dancing. Any plot would get in the way.

Well, I didn't hate it...but I did really enjoy all the dancing. I do agree, if not for the dancing it would be pretty bad.

I love the song "Lullaby of Broadway" .. that's a great song. I also can't really hate the show because Jerry Orbach was in it... and he was cool.

He IS cool...and will always BE cool...

He thanked me when I was just a baby for taking attention way from him...

But yeah, the movie and the show alike RELY on the dancing....

It's one of those few shoes that you don't have to take seriously, don't have a big ole meaning....It's just fun dancing...

maybe now you like it more?

Thanks Dreamcatcher - RENT is so great. My teacher gave me this book to read about RENT and its creator, Jonathan Larson...I'm not done reading it yet, it's a big book.

BsOBW2 - Yes, Jerry Orbach IS cool and will forever be. I love the show Law and Order, he was so amazing in that show! Well, I can't say I'm a diehard 42nd fan, but knowing that it's SUPPOSED to be lighthearted makes me less critical of it.
