….where you can worship pizza.
I love this kind of hidden architecture story. I have never eaten here, but I'm definitely going to check it out now, at least once!

I LOVE Johns! If you are going to be a tourist and eat at a place in Times sq, this is a great option. I have been there on many occasions, and it the food is pretty good! It is also one of the best places to bring a group as it is quite large and you can usually get in.
Great food! One of my favorite places to go after a show. The inside is very interesting...I'd recommend it. Everyone I've taken has enjoyed Johns.

John's is a great Pizza option in midtown and they take large groups too. This used to be the chapel for The Covenant House. This was the place where runaways were able to live here (many outreach programs)during the 70's and 80's (I believe). It was on the nasty stretch of 8th avenue nothing like it is today. I was in the chapel a couple of times while it belonged to Covenant House because my friend worked there(small chapel not like the writer said). I guess that means it was something else (bigger church) prior to Covenant House purchasing it.
Thanks for sharing! I've been inside before but never seen those old photos. Very interesting.

I question their claim that they are the largest pizzeria, but it is a great place.
Going in a few weeks... this is now on the list, maybe for lunch.
(not a fan of NY style pizza though)
