I'm ashamed of the Fox Theatre.

Don't talk crap! According to the guy in the article, this is a "marvelous new musical sensation!" we're talkin' about here!

but honestly, the movie was fun to mock because it was so bad. If they put it on the stage though... then it's just bad. :[

parisinnyc, i live 4 hours from Atlanta :P
and yes, i just saw the movie, and it was so corny and stupid i liked it
one semi-funny line: "we cant let the school be taken over by people who dont know the difference between a Tony Award and Tony Hawk"
wow, what a corny show!
but the stage play is supposed to be better than the movie
so, Fox Theatre... i dont know what to say to you right now

i dont see how they'll do it? the whole cast would be teenagers, so that would be a lot of extra tutoring and such...
unless if they hire very young performers, but i think they would look awkward

am i even making sense? i probably have the equity rules all messed up

dont mind me.

I'm almost sure they would hire actors over 18. They are playing, what, 16 year-olds?

I hope so. We saw what a disaster it was when they tried to cast close to real ages.
"People that excel in the arts understand that the journey is the reward...the result an added bonus. Every day I act or train is a blessing and a dream come true. If Broadway beckons so be it. I have a personal definition of success that is unshakable by a possibly unobtainable goal." -HamletWasBipolar

God I hope not.

This will still be a musical sensation next year, since the Sequel is coming out next year...from what I heard they are planning to have it in a Country Club. That all the kids work at a Country Club in the summer and they are trying to put on a Musical for their club..sounds like an epiosde of Saved By The Bell to me...

They will be casting college aged actors. Auditions took place this summer for a production of HSM to be launched at DisneyWorld this fall. Rumor has it that few students from any of the top MT programs chose to audition because they worry what an awful show this is going to be. They've pulled lots of college aged kids from mid-Western schools. Unlikely that any of them will be cast in the first Equity production in Atlanta but they want to get an idea of how things should be done in the stage version, and work out the kinks at DW. After all, it's not exactly a discriminating theatre audience watching shows there.
