It's the most realistic study of high school life ever.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
~ Muhammad Ali
I'll admit that when I heard about highschool musical I was a little skeptical. I'm not saying I love it (I agree with whoever was laughing at Get Your Head in the Game.. I was watching it while babysitting and I couldn't stop laughing and those guys and the kids thought I was insane.) but I thought it was cute.
Even though their lipsyncing sort of killed it for me.
Alright...I hate to say it, but I love the soundtrack! Excluding "Get Your Head in the Game"....and a couple of the other ones I can't think of the names.....there are some cute songs. Granted, they are extremely cheesy and far from challenging, but they are fun.
I think that when most kids say they love High School Musical, they are joking. They know that it was pretty bad, and are just trying to be funny/cool, by saying they love High School Musical
It wouldn't have been SO bad if they had kept the songs just in the musical and auditions itself instead of trying to incorporate songs into regular events happening/make it into a musical. It is ridiculous but makes a lot of people happy... i guess...?
So maybe the singing wasn't great I personally think that the songs were well written and as someone mentioned, people worked hard to do this. There was good choreography. I myself enjoyed the movie
Okay. I just saw the movie last night. I enjoyed it. Yes there are cheesy moments. The movie is a DISNEY CHANNEL MOVIE. What do you expect? And yes... Getcha Head in the Game made me laugh out loud. And yes... alot of the singers weren't good. And yes... it was far from perfect. But i enjoyed it.
I personally think it would work better as a musical. Under the right conditions. Better cast, awesome set, some rewrites, and a reprise or two... but i think it could work. Disney will try their best. haha
This was not meant to make anyone who hates this movie mad or anything. Just my thoughts. I know people will dissagree with me. Whatever.

Its rather sad, I mean, the movie is good for what it is- a cheesy fun filled teenage/tween phenom, but do they seriously think they can take 90 minutes of movie and make into a serious musical for high schools to preform. True- High Schools do silly shows all the time (example- Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls, Annie... etc) but atleast these shows are shows they people take seriously in someway- I highly doubt anyone would sit through HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THE MUSICAL and take seriously.
Disney's gotton a big head over this! And to be honest now that I have just the music and i listen to it, what i thought may have just been the way the sound came out on the movie is real crap in reality. I like the movie its fun its campy its cute....but i mean really :bangs head on desk:
"If There's One Thing to Learn it's You Just Can't Go Wrong If You Follow Your Heart, and End With A Song"
while i dont think this is broadway or even high school material, i do think that the movie catered to all of interests of middle school aged kids. disney produced this movie for disney channel and probably had no intentions of using it in live theatre and just because their making a ton of money off it doesnt mean its a good idea. maybe disney need to realize that all the sucess is probably supported by children. i really dont think this show is good enough to stabalize itself onstage
All I have to say is that it could have been a good thing for Disney Channel. I wish they would have followed an actual musical instead of auditons, and that they would have more broadway/musical theatre references.
Ya the Tony from Tony Hawk thing was perty good and there were a couple other references werent there I cant remember but I know there was atleast one more

not intending to offend anyone, facing this film I just gotta put in this from "The Roar of the Greasepaint..."
"When I think of the era in which I was raised And I see how the world's gone to waste, I confess that I'm constantly shocked and amazed At man's singular lack of good taste.
For taste is like justice - we live by her laws. It's so easy to tell right from wrong. Most people don't bother; Most people are whores. And a few bores who do, don't for long."
My school is considering doing it... it's eather going to be that or "Smokey Joe's Cafe"... I'm trying to look on the bright side, maybe it'll be less cheesy on stage... ::sigh:: Okay, if we do it I want to be Sharpea (sp) that way at least I would get to play the diva!
